Story

We first opened our doors 20 years ago at 82nd Street and 3rd Avenue. Over that time, we became the the Upper East Side's favorite Chinese restaurant. Informal, family friendly, we prepared fine New York-style Chinese cuisine and occasionally more authentic fare.

A year ago, our rent went through the roof but rather than close, we decided to reopen a few short blocks away at 242 East 79th.

September 2011 marks our first year in our new home. The new Our Place reflects many of the changes that have occurred in the restaurant scene over the last two decades. We're more informal, the linen is gone and our waiters not longer squeezed into black dinner jackets. Our new Chef, Kevin Xing, trained in Shanghai, and then worked for many years in one of Tokyo's most celebrated Chinese restaurants. Today, he's ready to make his mark in a City where people do not eat to live, but live to eat.

Toward that end, our menu is evolving to offer both classic New York Chinese dishes, as well as regional and authentic dishes. There's a greater emphasis than ever on fresh and healthy ingredients, new sensations and dining experiences. We are committed to maintaining our traditional values, while accommodating the demands of our most discriminating guests.

As we begin our 22nd year in business, we're conscious of the fact that we have served three generations of Upper East Side residents, their family and friends. Some of our current customers first came with their grandparents, some of these children are now adults and come with their children. People who first came on dates, are now married. We are delighted to have brought a little pleasure into our guests' and neighbors' lives and we look forward to serving the next generation as well.

We deliver during business hours between 65th Street and 96th Street and from FDR Drive to 5th Avenue. $15 minimum delivery order.

Our private room can seat up to 20 people comfortably and be set up for an elegant dinner or a child's birthday party. Please call at least 48 hours in advance to reserve the private room.
