Story

Call me a water girl at heart. A wanna be surfer who lives in one of the coldest most northern states! Several years of life guarding, swim instruction, competitive swimming, triathlon and rowing have kept me close to the water. Most recently my enthusiasm for Stand Up Paddleboarding has provided another way to enjoy fitness and fun around the water, and fulfills the need to be on a board if I can’t catch a wave here in Minnesota! As the fastest growing sport, standup paddle boarding (SUP) is an emerging global sport with a Hawaiian heritage. The sport is an ancient form of surfing and reemerged as a way for surfing instructors to manage their large groups of students. SUP is an easy to learn water sport done on what is essentially an oversized (10-12ft) surfboard specifically designed for use on both flat water and surf. The volume of the board makes it so the rider is able to stand up and paddle with both mobility and stability.
I have been competing in the sport of rowing for almost 20 years, and am a current U.S. National Champion at the masters level. While I enjoy the competitive aspects of rowing, I love the experience of just going out for a leisurely paddle as well. Often, between rowing practices, I enjoy grabbing my board and heading out for a paddle and appreciating nature…exploring nature…taking time… seeing things from a different perspective. Paddleboarding is a sport that the whole family can enjoy together. Besides the awesome fitness aspects, stand up paddling provides a great way for people and families to enjoy time together in a recreational atmosphere. My three kids (ages 5-9) have picked it up quite easily affording them another opportunity for fitness and fun combined. The little ones (usually 6 and under) can sit on the boards and enjoy the ride as well!
Stand up paddle boarding and rowing are a fun way to sculpt your body, strengthen your core, improve your balance and increase your overall wellbeing. Combined with my passion for both sports, I have been compelled to bring it to others on an individual, group, and family level. See if you will enjoy both the leisure and fitness benefits of both. Take a rowing or paddleboard lesson (or both) and enjoy an incredible experience. If you’d like to head out on your own, you can rent a board and paddle from us too. It’s your time to create your journey, see you on the water!
