Very tasty BBQ. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was very moist and tender with a great smoky flavor that does not over power the meat. The menu includes the sandwich and a bag of potato chips while I was also offered a small cup of pickles or onions and a selection of sauces. The "hot" I selected was very mild over all with a subtle hint of spices in the background. Overall, a very good combo that compliments the meat well. For the price point I would have like to have seen a drink included, however, inflation has hit everyone and Pappy's BBQ is no exception. The parking outside is not much to look at with a hand full of spot, inside you will find a number tables fit for parties 4 or more. Very friendly staff and a welcoming family friendly environment, if you are in the area I would recommend giving Pappy's BBQ a try. They also have a drive through and items can be purchased by weight, for large crowds I would take this avenue. Great work Pappy's!
First of all, the food was good. The flavor was good. The staff was friendly. That being said, I kinda splurged going here and the 2 meat meal was almost $17 after taxes. No drink was included. The food was just warm, Slightly above room temp. I was asked if I wanted peppers, I said yes, there were 2 pepper slices in the plastic cup. The portions were extremely disappointing. For $17, I would expect a bit more food and possibly a drink. Again, food/taste was good, staff was nice, but lack of drink, food temp and no drink was disappointing for the price. I guess I don't get out much to realize inflation is this bad. Whelp, I got my BBQ craving over with and I'll move on.
Well , today we had Pappys barbecue delivered and it was our first time trying their food as a whole. Portions & prices were fair & the taste was great !! We enjoyed our meal & look forward to dining in or reordering in the future.
I don't usually post reviews on local spots, but I've tried it twice, thinking maybe the first time was a fluke. The first time, my brisket had a sour taste and I threw it away after one bite. I decided today to give them another shot, as it was on my way home. First and foremost, the woman at the window was very nice and this review is in no way a reflection of the service or the employees. The stars I did leave are for her and her alone. So, the prices online and on the menu are not correct. 1lb brisket on the menu is $17.99, but it's actually $24 now and the only two times I've been here, almost 6 months between visits, I was told they were "ordering a new menu" but it had not arrived. I understand everything is increasing in cost, but I had to cut down my order because I can't see spending $58 on 2 lbs of meat without even any sides or drinks added. Even $25 was a bit much for a pound two half lbs, but I don't mind paying that IF the food is worth it. Unfortunately, it's not. The meat has no flavor at all. I'm not trying to exaggerate, but the brisket was dry, and at the same time, tasted like it had been boiled. No smokiness, no flavor, no nothing. It says smoked on the menu, but this is not fresh smoked brisket in any capacity, unless it was smoked, frozen, and thawed in hot water. It's also in chunks, not slices. There's no crisp fat edge or "smoke ring", it's literally just a chunk of grey, flavorless meat. Luckily, my dog isn't picky and she enjoyed it because I didn't. Pulled pork was also flavorless, except I could taste salt, and it very wet. Not greasy, wet like water. I really wanted to like this place. I love supporting local businesses, especially ones that have been around a long time, and I know a lot of them struggled during the covid shutdown, but this food was just bland, underwhelming, and not worth the money. I hope they read all these reviews and consider making some changes to how they prepare because I drive past this place all the time and I would really like to see it thrive with quality food. Sorry to say I can't recommend it.
I was almost nervous reading some of the more recent negative reviews because I’ve loved this restaurant for years but I am happy to say that there was no disappointment in my 4 meat plate and everything was just as good, if not better, as I remember. I understand that places have off days and it’s hard to find good staff in the biz but people I’m here to say that this restaurant has been a beloved staple for 20+ years and they don’t deserve these negative reviews. The brisket, bologna, turkey, and smoked ham were all excellent in flavor and good portion sizes. The Mac and cheese, corn salad, and deviled eggs were all excellent and reminded me of my Oklahoma family’s homemade thanksgiving sides. We had it delivered and everything showed up at our door HOT and FRESH. Please give them another chance if you weren’t happy Kid-friendliness: I’ve also eaten dine-in many times and I recall they have games and puzzles at tables in their homey dining room.
OMG best ribz, sides and desserts! Green beans and corn salad are my favorite. The unsweetened tea is amazing ! Yes, come by. You won't be disappointed they have lots of long time customers from all the world who stop by this location. It's right across from ok state fair and the major highway.
The Mac and cheese was microwaved. The bread is just store bought and meat was awful. I genuinely feel as if I was ripped off for the price I paid. The employees are super nice though so that was nice. I've reviewed a fair amount of places and this is the first time I felt compelled to write a negative review. Sorry Pappy's. For the price you need to be better.
Ordered delivery on Uber eats just a little bit ago. Food got here fast but they were out of what I ordered, ribs, so I went with brisket. The baked beans came in a coffee cup, the deviled eggs came in another tiny cup with some foil. The potato salad was actually kinda bad.. sadly just tasted of vinegar and mustard, same with the eggs. We thought the 2 meat dinners came with bread and we didn't receive any, which would have made that better than eating the meat on its own. The brisket was very salty, not sure why but honestly wasn't bad! Just sad I had to eat it by its self. Overall I'd say don't get this placed delivered, go pick it up. It would be more worth it price wise because what we paid was not close to the prices listed here on Google. The meat was ok but the sides were bad so that's why I am rating 3/5 stars.
Meat is not seasoned and almost like it’s been boiled with no “smoke” taste at all. The sides get a decent 5/10 and the Mac and cheese is very dry. Bad representation of “southern” barbecue. I would recommend driving further down Reno to Earls bbq.
Very small portions for big price. Had 2 meat meal with sliced brisket and sausage. Was given 4 small cubes of brisket and 6 pieces of sausage. The Baked beans tasted more like porknbeans with bbq sauce. The corn on the cobb tasted like it had been sitting in stale water. This cost $15 without a drink. Will not be backFood: 2/5
