I have had the worst experience with this company! Please do your research and go elsewhere. I am currently looking for a new firm to handle our companies payroll and thankful I did not buy in to further services. It is a Friday after 5pm and my employees ONCE again had to stand and wait for me to write personal checks because the courier did not show with paychecks happened multiple times now. If you call you hold for in excess of an hour and most likely get someone working from home who can not help you. I can’t get away fast enough from this company!
Worst experience EVER! Looking for a new payroll company that is competent. Paychex made all kinds of mistakes on my assistant's payroll. Yeah, I only have one assistant at a time but Paychex cannot get things right. The worst was Paychex even processed extra payrolls to my two different assistants! The first assistant quit after she got over paid so I was never able to get that money back. Paychex did not have the decency to even apology to me or give me my money back. SO frustrated! From associates to managers, they all have the same attitude and told me I am supposed to be responsible to the accuracy of my payroll at all. Seriously!? This is supposed to be the simplest job on this planet. Employees work 2 weeks and you process a payroll. How hard is that?!
Two years with Paychex. I have had pay periods where my employees got paid twice, periods with no paycheck, bonuses paid twice, periods with hourly paychecks but no salaried paychecks. Must be my large size, as I am a massive employer of 10 employees. I canceled in January, using the form provided by my Paychex agent, and I am still getting my account debited surprise - there is a second form, hence the time to submit this review. They are so focused on add-on services, that they have forgotten how to process payroll. EDIT: Wow!!! Need to know more? Look at the canned response to this review.
The low reviews are exactly on point. Paychex is awful. Go with them if you never want to get paid on time. They have one job and they CANNOT do it. Avoid this company like the plague. Customer service is also the worst.
Dealing with Paychex has been a horrible experience. I needed to get my 401k liquidated and they have made it nearly impossible. They sent the wrong form twice and followed the wrong process did what they wanted and not what was requested. This has slowed the process by months. Then when they send the correct form, after having my old company send it several letters. They now have not followed through on sending the direct deposit form via email within 5 business days as they stated, we are going on 8 business days now. Worst experience ever.
After doing payroll in-house for 2 years, demand would not allow us to keep doing it this way. It was at that point we decided to use Paychex as our new payroll system. Our salesman, was just that a salesman. Most if not everything he "SOLD" us on has been a lie. We are paying weekly for a service that we are still having to enter into our accounting system as well because a service we were promised is not possible with our accounting system and Paychex. The contract was contingent on the fact that the system would integrate and we could import company information into each. None of that is possible and we were not informed of that until months into the horrible process. The implementation process has been the absolute worst experience EVER. If it weren't for the process being so tedious - we would be with a new payroll company already. Not to mention using them for insurance and the people that are dedicated to you quit and you are not notified. No one will take responsibility for anything and no one ever has any of the answers you need. WORST company to work with. Do yourself a favor and choose a different payroll company. If you use Paychex - you'll wish you didn't.
The delay and loss of coverage during the COBRA process is unacceptable. Paychex accepted the funds from our bank and two weeks later there is still no record of this payment with Aetna, our health care provider. Your reps are Queens of Excuses. “The bank is slow...” “Our processing department said they sent it in...” “it takes the system 48 hours....” In an age of electronic fund transfers, global financial connectivity, and electronic records your business process must be re-engineered to ensure a seamless transition between employment and unemployment. Cancelling our coverage certainly didn’t follow a process encumbered with delays. Employment transition and upheaval are hard enough for a family to deal with without a shrugging of corporate shoulders when they question when their health benefits will be reinstated and they can pick up critical prescriptions without incurring out of pocket costs - even if just for two months before eventual reimbursement. It places the worker in a state of Dickensian indentured servitude. Even when I asked to speak to a manager, I was just put in hold, assured the problem would be resolved “next week” by the original agent and never connected to the manager to voice my frustration. The delay was long enough to let the office close for the weekend. How convenient...
Stay far away from this company. Don't let the big name fool you. I had been with my previous small payroll company for 10 years with no issues. I have problems every pay period with this company. I am a very patient person, but after 6 months I am worn out. I was overcharged several times from what we agreed upon and they will not fix it. They keep promising me refunds and they never get applied. I think their game is to get you in the door and then try to get you to take on other services with them. If they can't handle payroll then why would I ever think they can handle any other services. I am looking for another payroll company and I don't want anyone else to get stuck with this company.
My employer switched to paycheck over 2 years ago and this company is pitiful. Nothing but problems and unaswered questions. The reps on the phone have little to no knowledge of what their company even does for ours. When asked basic questions about our account they always have to refer to someone else. It's like they have interns talking to all the customers while the higher ups take advantage of the degree of separation this causes. 0/10 would not recommend. We are going to be taking our business elsewhere VERY shortly.
Run, run, RUN from Paychex! I have had the most horrible experience with them. Their ethics and willingness to stand behind their products/services is horrendous. I signed up with them around September of last year- I wanted payroll and group health insurance only. I stated this very clearly, with my OM as a witness. Somehow I got signed up with their PEO, which handles HR, although I explicitly told them I did not want any part of a PEO. I was charged thousands in set up fees, ongoing fees, etc and never received any HR services, aside from them sending a book about it. There were numerous people to contact in different departments if I had a question. No one could ever answer a question and I would be routed to person after person, it took them days if not weeks to even reply to me, and then they would kick the can down the road to another department. As soon as i would make a contact with a seemingly reliable person, that person would quit and he/she would personally tell me it was because of the shady practices/ethics of Paychex. My accountanting firm, who in the past recommended Paychex highly, was so astonished at their ineptitude and the numerous mistakes they made, that they have quit referring their dental clients to Paychex. After several nightmare months of delays, questions not answered, and being overcharged for services not even provided, I attempted to drop them and go with another payroll company. Paychex had promised to refund all the monies paid for their PEO service and what I had been overcharged. They messed up the termination date and it took weeks to straighten out with the new payroll company and the new health insurance. No one would accept responsibility for handling my account, yet they all made promises that they had no intentions of keeping. Now it is February- I termed with them in the middle of December. They are refusing to refund any of the money they had said they would and said since I left them, they are offering no refunds. I feel they are being spiteful and not making sound business decisions. They have cost themselves thousands in future business by their actions. My accounting firm handles only dentists and are well-known in Charlotte. No telling how many dentists they have referred to Paychex over the years. My main frustration is the amount of hours I, my OM, and my accountant have wasted trying to deal with this company and get them to stand behind their poor service and misleading business practices. It's infuriating!
