Reviews
Let me just begin this review by saying we are a family that has been with pediatric associates of Dayton for over 27 years. I was a patient from newborn until adolescence and had nothing but RAVE reviews for them until about 3-4 years ago. As of late, interactions with this office are extremely disappointing. The nurses have very poor attitude when being asked questions on the nurse help line. My son has ADHD and is on medication to manage this has had times where he cannot get refilled on his medication because the nurses are too busy grilling me in an accusatory tone acting like I am drug seeking when calling to get a refill but no problems at all when my husband calls. I am currently 8.5 months pregnant and had the nurse at the appointment today drop the door on me causing the door to hit me in my baby bump granted not very hard but still a little annoying. The same nurse also elevated her tone at my son because he was confused about directions that were given to him. All in all, the doctors are nice, no complaints there. The nursing staff needs to be more compassionate. If you don’t like working with children, why work in a pediatricians office?
We took our 2 day old for the newborn appointment, and was scheduled to see one of the doctors. When we arrived, they told us they had to move us to the nurse practitioner’s schedule. It was a horrible experience. She seemed annoyed, rushed, and did not answer any of our questions. We are first time parents. All she was concerned about was that he lost weight still under 10% and sent us home with a bag of formula without even entertaining the idea of nursing. I really wanted to exclusively breast-feed and felt very unsupported. He was only two days old, so it is expected that my milk would not have came in yet. I took him to a different pediatrician when he was six days old and he was already back up to his birth weight without adding formula. This other office also set me up with a nurse to make sure he has a proper latch and were extremely encouraging and supportive of a breast-feeding journey. I felt beyond defeated and judged leaving the appointment with PAD. I did not see any other providers, but based on seeing the NP alone, I would not recommend this practice.
Been trying to get a hold of someone on the phone to ask about a diaper rash and sore on my 3 month old. Finally got ahold of someone for a min transferred me to what I believe is scheduling after telling me I should come in today. 1st hold time was 36min. After speaking to someone the 2nd hold time is now 15min. I don't have time to waste to spend almost a hour on hold
I don’t leave reviews for any facility’s However, I felt this needed to be heard. My son has CHD and has been seen at this location for 2 years. Each visit the Doctors and PA asked me if I knew my son had a heart murmur. Yes, you read that correctly. This was asked three different times by three providers. There are many things wrong with this question. This tells me you didn’t even read my child’s chart before entering the exam room nor did you take the time to listen to us as his parents to get his medical history. This saddens me to no end. I’m happy to say we have found a new pediatrician who takes her time with my son and is well aware of his medical history. I hope moving forward this doesn’t happen to any other CHD parents.
I've been 3 times with my newborn so far. They have always been prompt and gotten me in right on time. I've never waited more than 2-3 minutes for a nurse to take me into a room. I've also only had to wait a minute or two for the doctor to see us. We've seen Dr.Diskin and had a good experience with her.
My three children ages 9, 7, and 4 have been patients there for a year. But I’ve become so frustrated that this week we decided to move to a different provider. I will say that the doctors and nurses that we saw there were generally caring and competent. The 2 reasons we are leaving are 1 the Beavercreek office is very difficult to reach by phone. And 2 it is very expensive and the billing is deceptive. 1 We are patients at the Beavercreek office and I have almost never been able to get them on the phone. Calls are routed to the Kettering office and they can make an appointment for you but don’t forget to mention that you need it for Beavercreek. But if you have a question about an appointment you just left or you want to speak to the nurse about something in your child’s chart, that’s not possible. They do not have access to your child’s records. They can get a message to the staff at Beavercreek but I have not had much luck at getting a timely response. 2 The biggest reason we are leaving is the cost and the stress of dealing with the bills. They have often added extra things onto our bills. We have a high deductible insurance plan so we have to pay out of pocket for most things. My son went for his yearly well visit in November and they charged an extra $35 to give him a flu shot at that visit. I was advised by my insurance not to pay it because it’s not an appropriate change. Well now it’s June and after 5 phone calls to billing, it is still not resolved. Another time my son was referred by his school for a hearing test. When we took him they noticed that he had an ear infection. That visit was billed the full cost of the test AND the full cost of a sick visit. It was maybe a 10 minute appointment billed at a total of $180. Those are just 2 examples but we have had other surprising charges. The billing department is not very helpful as there is only 1 person there the office manager who can explain the more complicated charges or adjust anything. Unfortunately she cannot be reached by phone and does not return her voicemails or messages. After 3 months of trying and I was finally able to get a hold of her after I basically threw a fit on the phone. Also they apparently do not offer payment plans or financial assistance because when I expressed that this was getting very expensive for my family I was told “well healthcare is expensive for everyone.”
They never answer the phone. Theres not even a way to leave a message. No option to make an appointment online. When you try and call to schedule they say they're closed from 12 to 1 for lunch but no one answers at 1130 or 130. The nurses and doctors are great but their scheduling staff are rude, dismissive, and unprofessional when you finally get in.
Poorly managed phone system, lists options that aren't actually available. Difficult to get to a person. Withheld preventive screening, because we missed an appointment. They hold strict to the 15 minutes is a no show policy. Couldn't be bothered to prescribe the semiannual tests without an appointment.
The Doctors are absolutely wonderful but the Nurses talk to you like trash. Definitely not worth calling in because you have a sick child, they treat you like you're ignorant!!!
They take such good care of my daughter here! Ever since she was a brand new baby coming in for her first appointment, I have always felt that my concerns were handled with appropriate care. Whether it is the nurses patiently answering questions on the phone, the doctor taking plenty of time with us at her appointment, or the office staff handling paperwork for our health insurance, we are always in good hands. We primarily see Dr. Bunn who is so kind and patient!, but all of the providers we have seen have been great.
