Doctors and staff are friendly and capable, but the appointment availability is horrendous. Three of the last four appointments of mine have been canceled without my knowledge. Throughout the course of my two kids' lifetimes here, my number was the primary number. I received appointment confirmations and any rescheduling requests. Out of the blue, they began calling my husband's number to cancel or reschedule standard well baby appointments and, after getting no response, apparently never thought to call the number they'd been working successfully with for over a year and a half. In good faith, I reiterated that they should only call my phone number after the last scheduling mishap. However, they still called the wrong number when attempting to reschedule the most recent appointment. Forget getting in if your kids are sick. The doctor does not take in sick children then why are they a doctor?!. They do not have any day-of availability EVER and constantly recommend you visit urgent care if your kids are sick. This is NOT easy with an infant or young toddler. Absolutely ridiculous. Save yourself a lot of headaches and scheduling conflicts - find another doctor's office.

My children were patients and now all 8 my local grandchildren are patients. We have always been treated with utmost care. We’ve had a few weekend emergencies taken care of with one call. Receptionist is always informative, helpful and respectful. If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would.

Really wanted to get my child in as a new patient because I’ve seen really good things about Dr. Young, but the woman at the front desk completely shut me down. She made no effort to see if they took my insurance. Very rude and unpleasant. Roxanne was very nice who I spoke to previously. The other woman, not so much.

Dr young and Dr downing are kind and provide so much information and support to help me as a new parent. They've always taken any emergency calls no matter how silly they seemed now looking back. Definitely recommend

The Doctors and nurses are all wonderful! But the receptionist I believe “Stephanie “ is her name but I could be wrong is the nastiest individual I’ve ever encountered in a professional setting!!! Just a horrible and disgusting attitude she’s always been nasty and rude yet they continue to keep her there at the front desk where first impressions are made. If she doesn’t like her job she should remove herself so that children can have a better experience when they come to see the doctors. Thank goodness mine are older now and I will be switching them ALL!!!!

Definitely get a new check in lady I was going to sign up as a new patient but oh my goodness they have to put up with that every time I come in no thank you I’d rather struggle and find someone else

The front desk lady is sweet and efficient. The office manager is understanding, caring and goes above and beyond the call of duty. The whole office staff has been accomomdating even when I was frustrated, this office helped me work through barriers to guarantee me baby daughter got the necessary care. The nurse was attentive, efficient and friendly. The doctor was extremely aware to my concerns, informative, and willing to explain his every suggestion. This was my first time visiting and as the father of 5 girls I would say by far my best doctors office visit since 1992. It just felt like I was at a home like a doctor's office should feel. Thank you Mr. and Ms. Young and the rest of the staff at Pediatrics of Kempsville.

I have been attending this doctor's office for 16 years for all my children. The entire staff from calling to make the appointments to being seen. The front staff is extremely accommodating to my needs with setting up appointments to understanding their needs with medical issues. In 16 years, I have never had a bad experience. Notable ones who always make the long drive worth it are Sherry at the front desk, Jennifer, and Dr Young. As well as all the nurses. I no longer live in Virginia beach but still make the drive because of the amazing care received.

Dr. Downy is the best doctor I could ever wish for the well being of my son. She has been his pediatrician for six years since he was born.She has always been well versed on any ailment and has always really taken the time and care with us, no matter how many people are waiting. She really listens to our concerns and has our sons best interests in mind. She also takes the time time explain everything carefully, so that we do not expect surprises. I highly recommend this entire office for their professionalism and family like atmosphere. We couldn't have asked for anything better to ease our minds!

I have been coming here for 10years and I love all of the staff! All of them call me by name and always friendly and prompt in taking care of anything that needed. Sometimes it was getting my sick child in or filling a prescription. I love the way they take care of things and make my kids feel special and very much listened to in their appointments. Dr. Downing is exactly awesome for each of my kids at their own level. Mrs. Sheri in the front is a sweetie to me and my kids... recommend them to all!!
