Very energetic atmosphere, every employee is cheerful and happy to be there. Everything I have had thus far has been 100% top notch.
Sauces can overpower the dishes to an otherwise pretty innovative small eats in downtown
Great lunch and good prices. Highly recommend the tacos... you get two, and they will be STUFFED with food, and it’s only $5. The skirt steak is my personal favorite; it's juicy and has a little spicy kick. The pork belly is a close second. The Mac N Cheese is also great. Very cheesy, and has some spice to it... not sure what kind, other than the delicious kind. Finally, if you're a sticky toffee fan, don't kid yourself - get the cookies. They are so soft and delicious. Overall: 5/5 would be an honor to naan taco again. Just wish they were open on weekends and evenings!
A great place to get some yummy food in the downtown area, Peli Deli offers not only cheap eats, but an extremely courteous staff in a convenient location. I shared the curried chicken and pork belly naan tacos, pretzel dog, mac n cheese and coleslaw sides, as well as a sticky toffee cookie with a friend, and it was delicious! The pork belly naan taco, pretzel dog and mac n cheese are top notch! The coleslaw was decent. The cookie was AWESOME! Enough seating, but still gets a bit crowded of course at peak hours.
I absolutely and without hesitation give the downtown Peli Peli Deli five stars. Both the presentation attractive and flavor profile of every and that is not, "just about", it is "every" dish on their menu is excellent. If I worked downtown I could see myself having lunch here at least once a week, probably twice. The tomato soup was topped with crisped parmesan which added an almost meaty, albeit vegetarian chew. The little empanadas were especially flavorful, and especially the coconut milk chicken curry option. I also thought the tacos were good. The price point, considering the quality of the food and prep is very reasonable. Considering one can get set back $10-12 at one of the new, mediocre fast casual pizza franchises, Peli Peli would be my first choice for lunch. Highly recommended.
It's impossible to walk past this place when hungry. I've tried on several occasions to take the escalators down into the tunnels and it's just not gonna happen. The food here is that amazingly good. Also, the people who work here are gems; exceptionally friendly people who will go out of their way to brighten your day. You can't go wrong coming here for a quick lunch. Get the mac and cheese as a side. Trust me.
Really interesting fresh flavors. Everything I've tried so far has been delicious. Meat choices are pork belly was a first time for me, skirt steak and curried chicken. Each is prepared differently with marinade or spices, and different accompaniments. Prepared as panini sandwich, tacos or calzone. Veg options also available. Pineapple coleslaw is very fresh and flavorful. Good prices, especially compared to other options nearby.
Great stop for you "foodies" ur taste buds will thank you. South African cuisine has always appealed to my wife and I. Lots of spice, not "spicey" but spice. The food here will wake up your taste buds...it's something new and different. The atmosphere is cozy...there is usually no wait and the staff is excellent.
Love this chain of restaurants. I am so glad that they expanded. I used to do a long commute to eat at the first locations but now it's close to work! Staff is amazing and the manager is truly awesome. She's perfect.
I am beyond thrilled that the partners of Peli Peli have opened another casual concept eatery! And it’s downtown, specifically in the Eperson building. They’re right above the escalators that lead down to the tunnels. They’re extremely affordable A huge taco for $5?! Nothing can beat that!!! and their food is darn delicious. Their service was quick, friendly, and informative! I had the two calzones, I mixed and matched with the Chicken Curry and the Baboti South African Beef and got mac n cheese on the side. My colleague had a Chicken Curry Naan Taco and the Pineapple Coleslaw on the side. I would try to beat the lunch rush if I were you, seating can be a little tight in there, especially since it’s so new and people are excited to check this place out.
