UPDATE: We won the case...see the attached copy of the judgement. The judge ruled we had to pay a resonable amount for the services provided which was our goal all along and that DisasterLink had to pay $2,000.00 in damages to us. ****we have been paying installments to DisasterLink for almost a year and we have yet to receive a dollar from this company**** FORCED TO FILE A LAWSUIT First off, please note that this company is not registered with the state, and is not licensed or bonded. This company is run by an individual who has previously been convicted by the Arizona Attorney General for consumer fraud. This company uses other names when operating: The Pelican Contents Storage, The Pelican Family, Pelican Power, and DisasterLink. This company was hired by our contractor, Valley Wide Restoration, to pack up, remove, and store our personal property when our house flooded. After removing EVERYTHING from our home down to our food and clothes, The Pelican attempted to defraud our insurance company by submitting a claim for over $30,000.00 for “restoration” of our belongings….items that never came close to being touched by flood water; items hanging in closets, stored in cabinets, etc. our house flooded with less than 1 inch of water. When their claim was denied, they tried to use our personal belongings to extort over $13,000.00 from us. After getting several comparative estimates for the same service, we offered them a $7,000.00 settlement; they quickly refused it. No lien was ever filed on our belongings, but they still refused to return our property after our repeated requests. We were forced to hire an attorney; no results. We filed a lawsuit; no results. We then started leaving on-line reviews, and finally got somewhere. After over a year of negotiation, and thousands in out-of-pocket expenses, we were able to get MOST of our property back. What we got back was shocking: Our personal belongings tossed in boxes with no regard; personal items such as my wife's unwrapped wedding bouquet tossed in a box, with a can of leaky motor oil thrown on top of it. Piles of dishes and glassware placed in boxes, not individually wrapped many broken, of course. Our TV had been broken, two floor lamps; broke, coffee and end tables; huge scratches and gouges, 100 plus year old antique dining table; numerous scratches and rub marks, 100 plus year old antique dresser; numerous scratches and rub marks.…the list goes on and on. Some of our belongings actually looked like they had been used. In addition, we actually received other people’s property! We are still missing many of our belongings and will most likely never get them back, and still dealing with this company via our lawsuit. My suggestion: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY
