My first time here the technician was wonderful and kind. The second time the tech was cold and rude. Both mammograms were extremely painful my breasts ached for 24 hours afterward.
The absolute worst doctors visit ever. Waited over an hour to get my poor grandmother in for her appointment. She’s an older women that shouldn’t have to sit for over an hour for an appointment. Completely understand being busy but don’t over book your patients and have them sitting here this long. People have things they need to get done as well and I’d hope you’d value their time. Also, very unprofessional I could tell you everyone’s lives. Everyone was sitting in a room talking about everything but what was work related.
NYU must have recruited these receptionists from the DMV or the Post Office. For a medical facility, they seemed oblivious to the fact that they're in the business of serving PATIENTS. The Tech was excellent, but the supporting staff isn't worth the visit.
Awful. Walked through drying human blood at the entry which is sticky on the soles of my new sneakers. Arrived 3 minutes late because they told me the wrong location. I walked fast to get there on time in the hot sun, only for them to take me back late. They then gave me a gown that my breast popped out of and instructed me to sit in a public waiting area. My concerns about the gown were dismissed. The tech then cranked my neck so hard that I told her she was injuring me. She dismissed it and left me trapped in the machine with my neck in screaming pain. For the next image, she grabbed my wrist so hard that I snapped at her in pain. Instead of giving verbal instructions she pushed and pulled on my body to the point I was fighting back tears, not because the mammogram hurt but because she was injuring me. Then she told me to go back to the waiting room to wait for my ultrasound— I was not having an ultrasound. I now have a pounding headache from whatever she did to my neck. This was not my first mammogram, and I know this is not how it should be.
Recently visited and had 2 excellent interactions. First with the breast ultrasound tech & then with the mammogram tech woman. However, my entire visit was around 1 hr 20 min behind schedule which was a little rough
I've been coming here for years. This is a professional, well kept space, and most of the times I've been here the wait was minimal. However, perhaps some of the complaints are with NYU's billing service. I had a gyn bill me twice for the same annual appointment because I asked a question–a question I always ask–and was told that that because I asked that question, it was no longer fell under the purview of an "annual exam." After much back and forth I found that it was a legal, and b something no other obgyn I've had charges for. When I've asked before the appointment, they merely shake their heads and let me know they don't operate that way. Prior to my appointment for an annual mamo today, I got an estimate for a zero dollar bill–letting me know that everything was set and I was good to go. Perhaps they're working on it because of negative feedback. As for that obgyn–I have a much better one now, but she isn't part of the NYU system.
I had my first mammogram done here last week. At first, I was a bit nervous because I read some negative reviews. In fact, everyone there was so nice and helpful. The place was clean. The technician I had was so friendly, informative and explained everything so clearly that I didn't' even need to ask more questions. She also made me feel comfortable and calm. Thank you so much!
I’ve just had my mamo/sono done here, 2nd year, and all the staff was so efficient and kind. I had gone to different centers in the past, whichever had available appointments, but will definitely make sure I continue having my annual check-ups here. The technicians are professional and efficient and the front desk staff polite. The ambience is calming and comfortable. I have no clue why people leave negative feedback even if they do happen to encounter ONE ‘rude person’ here. As for the negative reviews regarding the wait time - yes, this is a rather stressful experience for all of us, but I’d say that 1 - 1.5 hrs for both mammogram and sonogram is what to be expected. Thank you everyone I’ve encountered today. You are doing a wonderful job!
I don't know why so many negative reviews. The place was clean, the front desk was efficient and polite, and the technician who did my mammogram, Lori, was literally the nicest, funniest, sweetest person you could imagine. I mean everyone knows mammograms are no fun but Lori made me so comfortable and actually made my day by putting me at ease, being communicative, and really just lovely. I would definitely return here when it's time for my next check up.
After figuring out that you need a prescription to make any move when it comes to breast health- for a yearly exam but then also for any follow-ups, which I know is about insurance and state law - it gets easier. On a couple of occasions, I have been sent home because the date was incorrect switched numbers on my prescription watch your provider when they fill the prescription and proofread it before they send it- not kidding. NYU still asks for the prescription to be faxed to them now you can upload it in your NYU app, but they ALWAYS say they never received it, so make sure you take a copy with you. EVERY TIME. I went back for a follow-up once, on another floor where people seem to be a lot more rude than the staff downstairs: the receptionist told me everything was fine, I was all set, and while I was changing, another woman burst into the room to tell me to put my clothes back on and leave because the prescription I had was not the right one for follow-ups. Another time, I was told to go home because my prescription had expired by ONE DAY I learned a lesson, prescriptions are only good for 6 mos. Most women have to take time off work for these procedures, so a very rude woman wasting patients' time is not welcome. But most of all, mammograms, or any health screenings in general, are not the times to get caught up in what kind of paperwork people have and don't have with them, what the date looks like, etc. Making appointments here is easy or difficult, there is no in-between. I just called to make a follow-up appointment and instead of helping me, I was told "so-and-so deals with follow-ups so I'll tell her to call you." I don't think these people understand what it feels like to be told you might have something growing inside you, the sense of urgency to know what it is, and how frustrating it is to hear "She'll call you back”, because “it’s not my job” to take an appointment outside of so-and-so’s area of responsibility even if they do work in the same place and likely side by side. Nor do they answer messages left after 3pm until maybe the next business day - I say "maybe" because I’m waiting for someone to answer the message I left last week. The blah attitude is like someone saying "I don't care." Not comforting. I do like the technicians and radiologists at Perlmutter, they have been very kind at a time when you need kindness, and getting your results is very quick. That's what makes me return here.
