The Petersen Art Center was founded by renown Utah artist and educator, Harold (Pete) Petersen. In 2002 the Springville Museum of Art recognize Pete's contribution to art in Utah, by naming him one of the 100 most influential artists in Utah's history. The book, Artist's of Utah said of Pete, "...a brilliant painter and an art teacher almost without local peer.
