Petra Cliffs offers indoor rock climbing for all ages & abilities, outdoor group and private programs in rock & ice climbing and more.

Story

Petra Cliffs Climbing Center is located right off of I-189, just two miles from downtown Burlington, and easily accessible from the Burlington Bike Path.

Our indoor climbing features top-roping, lead climbing, three distinct bouldering areas, four auto-belay stations, a high ropes course, workout area, and showers. Climbing ranges from absolute beginner to advanced, or V0-V12 and 5.0 to 5.13+.

Indoor programming includes drop-in climbing, memberships, adult climbing clinics, private instruction, birthday parties, group climbing, summer day camps (which also go outdoors!), films, competitions, team building, and more. Our members, staff and visitors find a place to challenge themselves in a social and energetic environment.

The Mountaineering School offers group and private programming in outdoor rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, and avalanche education. Our guides are highly trained and many are proud to be moving through the American Mountain Guides Association certification process. We have amazing outdoor playgrounds here in Vermont (Bolton, Smuggler's Notch, Lake Willoughby), in the Northeast (White Mountains/NH, Adirondacks/NY) and throughout the country (that's right, where do YOU want to go?) to offer the best in climbing and alpinism.
