Choosing to work with Jason at Phoenix Men’s Counseling has been one of the best decisions in my life. He helped me not only get through some very difficult times but more importantly I feel like I am really learning to be the true me - which sounds like a weird thing to say - but I am much happier, more honest with myself, more confident, and better able to deal with conflict in my personal life. Well worth it and would recommend highly!
If I could rate Jason a negative star I would. My husband needed help and it was his first therapy session. He was completely nervous and upset going into this and Jason was completely unprofessional, lacked empathy and compassion and I’m mortified hearing how this man operates his counseling session. Completely disgusted. If you want care and compassion and need therapy, especially your first time, DO NOT SEE JASON. I work in a field where we encourage connecting using your client’s name, and my husband said when he used his name during the session, Jason felt “uncomfortable”. Who says that; and you are a therapist? So disturbing. I’m saddened my husband’s first experience being vulnerable looking for help was tarnished by this man.
I had a great experience working with Jason. He was able to help me identify the underlying issues that were leading to the bad behaviors which were causing problems in various aspects of my life. If you're looking to gain some valuable insights into any of the issues you're dealing with, I would highly recommend his counseling services.
I've had the great pleasure of knowing Jason and working with him in other capacities the last four years. I'm thankful the relationship has grown over the years, and I have experienced his great compassion for and dedication to the people he serves, not to mention his strong work ethic. Jason cares deeply about his practice and is committed to providing a safe, open, professional environment in which to make a difference for his patients.
Jason is awesome! I’m hugely thankful to have gotten to work with him. He’s very attentive, and helped put things in perspective without being judgmental. You can tell he truly cares about his work and his clients. Highly recommended.
First session he will read you the paperwork he had you review and sign at home with only the last 10 minutes spent with you talking. Made me feel like my problems weren't a big enough deal and at the end of the second session he asked if I wanted to continue coming back, which I didn't. I was in a good mood before my last session and he made me doubt my own progress. I would find someone who is capable of seeing more than just his own perspective.
I thought their service in communicating with me as a new customer was really good, people nice, ect... HOWEVER, just trying to help a fellow google reviewer. Their price is $150 per/hr.. definitely out of my budget. The first session is an intake session, so ultimately you're in $300 if you want any real counseling or advise from them. They don't provide cost assistance, or accept insurance... or at least when i canceled my meeting they made no effort to find out if I had one that would work. Hope this is helpful:
Jason helped me out a lot back when I was going through a massive depression. I was able to look and understand things from a different perspective which allowed me to take responsibility of my life. He gave me the start and fire that I needed to get moving because I had thought my life was over at the time. If you’re a man and feel like what you’re doing isn’t working anymore I would advise to get with a counselor to help. We men sometimes feel scared to ask for help because we feel like we can do everything ourselves but asking for help is a courageous thing to do.
I've known Jason for 10 years. He is the consummate professional. Some folks fall into their professions because they think it's what they'd like to do, others have a calling to it. Jason is of the later group. He has an uncanny knack for identifying the "real", not superficial or projected behavioral barriers people have to personal growth. What I respect among many things about Mr. Fierstein is that he is not about the money. Sadly, in the medical profession I know of many providers of health care that will string clients along whether they are providing any true service or not as long as it's good for the bottom line. Jason's desire is to make a lasting impact in a person's or couple's life for those that are serious about confronting the real issues. More often, people are NOT aware of the real driving force behind harmful language or behavior to themselves and their relationships. Once Jason identifies these issues he passionately commits himself to progress with a willing client. Some clients aren't prepared for this and may react defensively from the same emotional "space" their problematic behavior stems. Counseling works if your serious about the effort it requires. Work IS required to overcome detrimental behaviors that you may have been straddled with for years. Jason has the facility to adapt to a counseling method that he estimates will work best - conventional and less so. I've always had the utmost confidence in his consultations. I give him my highest professional recommendation. Sincerely, Dr. Mark Tosca, Board Certified, Family Medicine
Jason is a colleague of mine, and I find him to be an excellent place to refer male clients. Jason has a solid practice in place and has a very positive reputation among other counseling professionals. I recommend Phoenix Men's Counseling as a great place for therapeutic services.
