I just graduated 03-29-24 and let me tell you I love the instructors. They remember what you might be struggling with and check up on you and give you space if you need it. Remember communication is key! They will not give up on you. Give this school a try if you want great learning and amazing road stories. Thank you all instructors and students who helped me when I was not sure of my self!!!!!!!! And State tester it's the best he will make sure you're safe to be on the road.
Would like to give a special thank you to Kenny & Will both weekend instructors. If you’re a student on the weekends these will be the 2 to get you the skills you need to pass the CDL test. You just gotta be coachable. Thank you to Gary for a good classroom setting as well, I enjoyed the journey.
SCAMMERS Make you sit on bench for 8 hours only to drive the truck for 10mins. Say you need to get your mandatory hours so they can pocket grant money. Lies and games NO mandatory hours called fmsca and two other schools . Waisted a lot of my time. Had to move my collage to summer. Then Payed out of my pocket and tested at different school had my CDL in a week. Do one on one schedule like that! DON'T go here if you don't want to sit around all day, did my one on one at two schools to get me fast tracked. By Glendale airport and i10 an I 17. Ask for one and one only!!! Don't pay cash!! Use credit if need to disbute seen students from other school next to here same deal. Poor service. Hope this helps ,report to AZ work about poor service!! To make better change for all of us
This review’s a little late, I graduated in December but better late than never. Was on GI Bill, smooth and easy process and the school did most of the work submitting everything for me. I was on weekends 10 hours a day Saturday-Sunday. I really liked it. I was brand new and haven’t even driven a manual car before let alone a truck, so as you can imagine I had a bumpy start and it definitely took me some time to learn. Special shout out to Bill who got me started and Kenny who really put the work in to make sure I can pass, the others were great too but the two instructors I mentioned were amazing with me. The biggest problem I had most people had is too many students per instructor, probably drove the truck a total of 2-4 hours out of the 10 hour day, had to apply myself and really make an attempt to learn by watching and listening as well. They definitely put the pressure on in the last week which I was a little upset about at first but looking back I think it’s just what I needed and I have a feeling they knew that. When I took my test, I passed on the first try, I normally suck at testing so let that be a testament to how well they did with me. I now work for a mega carrier making decent money, trying to get the experience to eventually hop on with a high paying company. Thank you PTDI!
Overall the school has very knowledgeable staff but they are VERY short staffed. I’m currently in the school it’s my second week. I go to class 5 days a week full time and collectively I have been in a truck 8 times tops. I have done 3 straight backs , 4 off sets , 1 parallel park. They have 3 instructors during the day with anywhere between 7-18 students, they split one instructor to take students in the road and the other 2 are out in the range. 18 students with two trucks and some students can take 8-10 minutes just to do one off set parking. Sometimes I only get to practice my maneuvers twice day. We will sit around doing pre trip half of the day just to wait for our turn to get in the truck. From what I heard they had many more instructors but they ended up leaving. Why keep bringing in more students when you know you’re short staffed ? I’m paying this school close to $4,700 and I’m not getting enough exposure with the rig. What they should be doing is having all three instructors on the range splitting groups up and having designated days to put students on the road. I changed my name on google so I wouldn’t get any negative comments while I’m in the school
Big shout out to everyone there. Very nice and great people. Anyone complaining about this place probably didn't pass. It's not easy, and you shouldn't expect it to be. Your hands will get dirty, and your skills will be tested. The instructors can't make miracles happen. Some people just shouldn't get their licenses. But that's a good thing you're driving a beast on the road. Takes time and money. Tim, you're the man! They are very fast-paced. If you dont know, Manual or haven't experienced the backing of trailers in the past. Dont come to this school. The instructors are there to help you win. They're not there to teach you. You have to do that yourself. They definitely help you do that. You'll run into the issue of them having too many students for two instructors. You'll probably practice one time in a day or twice if you're lucky. If you're on budget with your finances, I recommend taking the full-time course with this school. But if not, give it more time. You can complete it in 4 weeks if you're experienced, but if not, you'll find yourself there for 5-7 weeks. Great place to get your CDL for experienced people. Manual shifting and Trailer control. If you aren't experienced, go somewhere else. You'll do students who are a favor.
Honestly this school right now has very few instructors. The instructors here are great at what they do but were talking 1 instructor for 30 students. 2 instructors on a good day but if your good at your manuevers you will have 2-3 times driving a truck per day each time being around 1 minute thirty seconds with total time in vehicle less than 4 and a half minutes. Then you wait for the next guy who has more school time but takes 30 minutes to complete a manuever only when the instructor steps in to finish it so the next student can have a "chance" Complete waste of time sitting in the sun while getting very very very little truck experience. Paying them $100 a day part-time student for the instructors to sit in the office the first 45 minutes of class. Spend the extra $$$$ and choose a different school!
Update the school has been improving and been helpful working with me on concerns. I will review my review in a few weeks Where to start first of all the instructors are good people , but it is clear they are not treated well at the school by the owners. I have seen three instructors walk off the job because of the lack of organization. There can be at times a ratio of 20-40 students per 1 instructor making it very difficult for actual hands on time with the maneuvers. This training is a skill set which requires repeated maneuvers to learn proven facts. Next lightning at night is a major issue the trees and trucks block what little light there is and it is obvious that this has been an issue before since they have broken portable lights sitting in the range. The cones and lines on the range are black and very difficult to see during the day and impossible at night. After filling several complaints and never received and reply to my concerns I reported it to Maricopa workforce they too have received several complaints about this school. We were told observing will teach you. Not when you are staring for 8 hours a day at others whom also have no idea what they are doing and only have 10 minutes out of 8 hours a day to have hands on practice. As for the lights Jason's response was well in the real world you will have to drive at night. Really Jason !!!!!!! We are in a learning environment we need to be able to see what we need to learn so when we do get out into the real world we know how to do certain things. When we are told back up till the tires near the line but we can't see a line wth. And stop at the black dirty cone. This is a accident waiting to happen. The school focuses more on new students every Monday instead of cutting down the ratio of students to instructors because of one thing $$$$$. Once you are in and they have the $$$ your concerns do not matter. Several students are not happy. We now have to pay additional money for adequate training at another school that offers one on one. My recommendation is CDL trucking on 24th Ave.
I was patient learning. Great teachers like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Mike Tyson, and Master Spinter was up there helping you get to where you want to be. Thx Guys I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone!
I learned something from every instructor. I took what worked for me and kept an open mind to learn more every single day. And studied at home, in my car, recorded myself and did the per and post-trip inspection 4 or more times a day. Like the future trucks you have to drive yourself... to learn and push yourself to learn and do for yourself. And everyone there saw that and helped me even when I thought I was not ready their confidence in me gave me confidence in myself. And what do you know I now have my CDL-A and all my endorsements.
