I am a Phyl's Academy Alumni, and I must say from the minute I moved on from Phyl's, I have had very few challenges academically and professionally. It was a nurturing environment but also demanding, with teachers who do not give up and expect nothing but the best from you. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is seeking an excellent nursery to primary foundation for their child.
I graduated from Phyl's Academy about 10 years ago. The staff does a good job to create a good learning, disciplined, and fun environment for kids. I remember my all the fun times I had there, the parties, the funny moments, field trips, computer games and after school activites. The staff are no strangers to discipline and making sure that the kids do their work. However, their discipline came with stubbornness and a lack of encouragement. While attending Phyl's Academy, I noticed the favoritism towards student who were quick learners, understood instructions and did their work. If you were the opposite, there was no encouragement just unnecessary attitude and being belittled. There were times where I did extremely well and was encouraged. Then there were times where I was slow to catch on, had trouble understanding, and became disengaged after awhile. I remember at one point getting a tutor math. When I took my test my, all of my answers were right. But I got a terrible score because it wasn't the method problem solving she taught in class. The teachers are no help in this department, some were just straight up mean for no reason.
Both my children has attended Phyl's Academy and the school has always been great from day one. You experience a sense of family, which in turn makes you and your children comfortable. It's definitely an A one school in my opinion.
phyls academy is a good school they have and will teach discipline. But once you learn to discipline yourself, It's tons of fun. Especially when your're in 5th grade. When you really learned to discipline yourself, you have tons of fun. You have fun at gym, parties, treats, and many others. One time in 5th grade, the teacher brought her wii to school for 5th grade senior year trip, you go to either splish splash, six flags and other amusement parks. Overall, Phyl's Academy is a fun school to go to. But some teachers need to tone it down a bit. Sometimes that could be mean and strict and for get that kids still need to be kids. we are growing but sometimes they forget about that.
THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE. If your child has any kind of speech delay or signs of autism they will exile your child and put him/her on time out all day. Their excuse is “the child was misbehaving.” I contacted the NYC Board of Education about This matter and they are looking more into this matter. Phyls’ Academy is run like a military structured school with a bunch of gossiping parents and teachers who’s in everyone’s else business. PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY. It’s nothing but friends and family who work within the school so there’s a lot of favoritism. Again. PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY.
I attended Phyl's Academy from Pre-k through Grade 5. The teachers encourage dicipline and hard work, and homework was a must. I have graduated from High School now, and I still believe I have learnt the most from that school.
My daughter has remained an 'A' Student from the foundation gained academically from Phyls Academy. A great school indeed.
My son goes here and every day he's excited to show me what he learns. The teachers are so nice and friendly and teach where every kid can learn.
Great school. The school staff very professional and caring. My daughter love her school. Ms James is A+ teacher.
I absolutely love this school! The teachers are great and I am so thankful my kids attend this school
