Just had my first sewing class today with Deana, and I absolutely loved it!! I had zero, like zero experience and she was so good at helping me learn all of the basics. The shop is very easy to get to, and the space has such a good energy!! Would 100% recommend any sewers or future sewers to check this place out, especially for the classes!! Thank you again!!!
Great place to take sewing classes! They have offerings for beginners and people who have been sewing for a while, and I have learned so much from them! Excited to keep building my skills.
Great shop. They fixed a vintage dress for me and did amazing work. Abby is fantastic!! I definitely would recommend!! I will now come here for all my sewing/alteration needs.
I came across Pincushion when I was roaming around in DTLV on Charleston Blvd and Main St. I walked in and inquired about their business. It’s a small boutique shop offering alterations. They also hold sewing classes. I’ve taken their sewing for beginners class and wardrobe basics. After taking a few classes, I now regularly take privates with an instructor. If you’re interested in making custom-tailored collard shirts, I will take classes with Lars. He’s very skilled and makes unique collared shirts for men. The same techniques can be used to make collared shirts for women! They moved location off Highland Dr and E Sahara. Make sure you know where you're going before hand so you don't get lost.
I love this place! They have fun sewing classes and workshops, and workspace if you have a solo project you're working on. They're also really lovely people, and offer great rates on tailoring and dressmaking clothing making? - a local gem, for sure.
Clean, well equipped place for any level of sewing experience. Abby has created an inviting atmosphere for anyone who has a sewing project but not the equipment or just needs a little help.
I can't believe I was so let down, smh... I stumbled upon Pincushion back in January after all of my equipment was stolen from me. The owner and a very friendly employee listened to my story, Lear ed about the type of apparel I make, and then proceeded to give me a tour. I remember how excited I was at the sight of a top-coverstitch machine!! I always wanted to get my hands on one.. and they told me to come rent the space sometime and I could! I went back in March with a long-time client whom I often make samples for. The same two women were there, and we confirmed that all the equipment I would need was there in the shop. This would be specifically a serger, a double-needle coverstitch, a grommet press & size-0 or close grommets, polyester or nylon thread, & shears. Now it's June and I have a serious client who wants his product! I called Pincushion to make the reservation and speak to an unfamiliar employee. I ran over the list with her and said if I need to bring any of these items I need to know now.. grommets, thread, etc. She assured me that was all available, unless I'm particular on thread color. I packed everything up, headed there in a Lyft, and to my disbelief.. the only thing available to me was a straight-stitch machine. Turns out this is yet another employee unfamiliar to me, and she apologized that I was misinformed. She said too many who don't know how to operate the industrial machines properly have caused them to recently stop renting them out, no exceptions! NO EXCEPTIONS??! I even have samples of my work. The quality is clearly professional. I'm not a hobbyist, I'm running a business! Why have the shop at all then?! I can order a straight-stitch for like $170 new. I went to Pincushion because I can't fork over the $2,000 it would take just to get the bare minimum equipment. They refunded the rent payment, but I am still LIVID!!! I could talk all day about it, but simply put, the business did nothing to accommodate me, even after being carelessly misled. We offered to pay additional rent for the equipment we needed.. anything, whatever it takes. But no, I had to pack up and head home in utter disappointment.
Love Pincushion. Abby was so helpful. It is far from my home but will drive the extra time to go to Pincushion. It is located in a really cool area of downtown. Thanks for your help Abby.
I would highly recommend Pincushion for all of your alterations and sewing projects. Great experience! Very professional.
I love this sewing studio! A great place for alterations or custom projects, classes, and a space to rent to work on your own sewing projects!
