Platinum Properties

My roommate and I wanted to view apartments in the FiDi area for a 1 bedroom flex to 2. We called a listing that led us to Platinum Properties. We double checked with the broker we spoke with that there would be no fee on the apartment we ultimately decided on, and the man ensured us there wouldn't be. Great! Fast forward to actually meeting at their 30 Wall St office. We sit down with the broker in the Platinum Properties office and he puts on the normal broker apartment hunt spiel. He then tries to get us to sign forms that would lock us in to paying Platinum Properties 15% of the rent even if we ended up going through another brokerage agency. We walked out right then and there. I get if you charge a broker's fee on an apartment, that's normal some places. But we specifically asked for this info and they said there's not fee. Be wary of signing forms before viewing listings! Do not sign anything until you are ready to sign a lease! There are definitely other agencies that cover FiDi that will not charge you this fee.
