I am a BBW first off. Second, I went in looking for something to wear at a h s reunion. At one time, they did carry larger sizes. When I was at the store, I didn't see a section and asked a staff where I could find it. I was told, we don't carry larger sizes, so I can just leave. Another time, I went in looking at accessories. A store might not sell my size, but I still like jewelry, purses, and shoes. I went in, and found some cute jewelry and went up and tried to pay. As I was standing at the counter, I was ignored, and another lady who came up after me was helped. She was proceeding to be helped. While standing there, I saw they had a bottle of Bath and Body Works. Scent was enchanted orchid, and one cannot get in the store. The scent is discontinued. Not one hello from a staff person, or even an acknowledgement. Kept getting ignored. I threw the stuff on the counter and walked out. If anyone wants clothes, and great customer service, go to Clothes Mentor. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Unfortunately won't be going back to Plato's Closet.
Walked in with two giant bins of clothing to sell. Lady working the front desk was snobby and rude. 5 minutes later they were “done” looking through my clothes and didn’t take any. They hadn’t even looked through the bins, I could tell because everything was still folded. Told me everything was outdated or in bad condition, it was all new with tags.
This is a second hand store, that’s great! But I usually expect second hand prices. These people are selling shirts for $22 that were maybe worth half that brand new. I’m not sure where thes get their selling numbers. I also called to talk to a manager about where the pricing comes from and was called rude and hung up on…..? Nice. I’m pretty sure you guys ripping people off is what is rude.
The girl that checked my clothes was very passive aggressive and did not seem like she wanted to be there. I brought in 8 items and she offered me 40 $ for everything I had a L.L Bean winter coat that was worth over 150$ and 3 pairs of Zara jeans each 60$. This is a literal joke, never coming back again.
I was just in there and brought a tote of clothes. I had Air Force Ones Sage Low’s $100 that were worn maybe 10 times. Pink vans, A bunch of Shein Clothes. For only $42??? Are you serious that’s like $5 an item, they took 8 things. That is ridiculous. How can you guys be ripping people off like that? Will be the last time I come sell anything to you.
I brought almost a full bag of clothes, some newer and some older. Most of the clothes had tags on them and were expensive, said they were outdated and damaged. While they were going through my clothes they were looking at me and laughing at me when I looked around the store waiting for them. Didn’t tell me when they were done, threw it on the floor. They didn’t take brand new clothes but were selling a leather purse that was basically torn in half. The workers just seemed really immature and judgmental, not a good place to buy from or sell to.
I shouldn't even be giving them one star. I honestly don't even know why I bother trying to sell clothes here. They want to buy 6 items for $12. For 2 new dresses, 2 new shorts and 2 new body suits. What!!?? Out of 2 huge boxes of new clothes and of brands that they DO sell.
Unfriendly vibes. Walked in with a few nice clothing items 4 girls who had to be in high school were all staring me down the second I walked in. Felt super uncomfortable and I am 32 years old. Waited over an hour never got my name called to see cash out price. Walked out with less than $6. Never again.
This store is my absolute favorite! Never a bad experience here and it’s a good feeling knowing that I can get good quality service as well as name brand clothes for half the price! Not to mention the location is convenient next to some of my other favorite places like pizza ranch. Anyways, the employees here are always willing to help and jump on the opportunity to help me find an outfit that matches something I already have or a whole new outfit. 10/10 go here to not only shop but to sell, you will not be disappointed
I worked at a different Plato’s Closet location and... girl.. I would highly recommend retraining all of your employees on how the buy process is supposed to be done. Checked in on a notepad, no explanation of how the buy process works for first-timers, no itemized list meaning nothing I sold was entered into the computer with prices provided by corporate, no explanation of why they passed on certain items, my passed items were left OUTSIDE of the buy counter meaning anyone could easily have gone through my belongings...basically everything was done wrong. The staff were polite and friendly, don’t get me wrong, especially the brunette with glasses who was pretty busy and still was super nice and easy to talk to, but it ruins the reputation of other stores when you make it seem like this is the normal process. It’s not. If you are selling here please know not every store is like this and will be happy to take a look at your clothing items with prices that are actually 30-40% of the retail price, not ball park guesses.
