An impressive new private event space, gastronomic society, and modern test kitchen in Southeast Industrial Portland, Oregon created by restaurateur John Gorham. The palatial 4,000-square-foot space can accommodate affairs of all kinds from a large-scale dinner for 50 guests to a cocktail party for 150. The impressively renovated industrial space features an oyster bar, a professional DJ booth, and noise-dampening, triple-paned, floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of passing trains. The kitchen boasts a whole animal rotisserie, a large Combi oven, and a six-foot grill imported from Getaria, the mesquite grilling capital of Spain. Plaza Del Toro also serves as a chef's laboratory and home base for pastry chef Carrie Merrill who develops all Gorham properties dessert programs.
Gorham envisions a space where he and his staff can have unconstrained culinary creativity as they develop new recipes for his four restaurants (Toro Bravo, Tasty n Sons,Tasty n Alder, and Mediterranean Exploration Company), as well as experiment with new and innovative dinner concepts inspired by legendary Portland supper club Simpatica and the gastronomic societies of San Sebastian, Spain.
