Hands down one of the best pastrami sandwiches I’ve ever eaten!! The sandwich is a little pricey but it’s worth it. As you can see they aren’t selfish with the meat. Love this place!Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
If you are a pastrami connoisseur, this hidden gem is a must try spot! I can’t say enough good things about this spot. The pastrami is cut right in front of you. The place is spotless.. staff are friendly and the pastrami is the best you will ever have.
One and done. I wanted to try this place for quite some time. And I did. And I never will again Unfriendliest food establishment I’ve ever visited. The older lady blond, behind the counter was absolutely awful I was the only customer in here. Not once was I asked how everything is or if I needed anything. How about this - if you’re not a happy, “people” person - don’t work in front of the house! How hard is it to be nice? Sorry I left a 20% tip when I ordered at the counter. Worst customer interaction ever. Mediocre lox. I’ve had better at the Nutley Diner.
With fall finally arriving, I was craving chicken soup. Mikki's hands down has the best chicken noodle soup. Also tried the pastrami sandwich which was absolutely solid. Overall an excellent experience. Will be back.Food: 5/5
I had hoped for better, being close to NY City. Stopped by on 11/18. The matzo ball soup did not have much flavor. Broth was very weak. The chopped liver was dry for my taste. Needed more chicken fat or whatever binder was being used along with a finer grind to the liver and some onion would help. The potato salad was ok. I ordered the Sloppy Joe sandwich. It was good but I have had better pastrami at the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia. The rice pudding was ok as well but could have used some cinnamon. Overall most of the food was ok but nothing special. Kind of the weak side for being so close to New York City.
Favorite place in Montclair! Always fresh and made with love. Thank you Natalie and the entire staff for an amazing lunch.Recommended dishesChicken Matzo Ball Soup, Pastrami
I had a pastrami sandwich at a reasonable price. Quality was very much like a famous NYC deli!Food: 5/5
Just destroyed the Gemisht pastrami, corned beef, and turkey. Oh, it was so good!!! Big sandwich and big flavor!!!
Hands-down, this was the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had. The meat and the bread were so tender and soft that they just melted like butter. I cannot wait to go back!
I grew up eating pastrami sandwiches. Coopers, in Newark, Eppen Essen in Livingston, and back in the day Don’s restaurant. Ugh. Just showed my age! As an adult Katz Deli and Ben’s in NYC. Smoked meat in Montreal is amazing. My point is pastrami sandwiches are no stranger to me. Mikki and Al’s makes a delicious sandwich. I found it to be a tad too salty. But overall I enjoyed their pastrami sandwich! Because of the size I only ate half. The meat has a nice peppery kick and a very pleasant flavor profile. The pickle on the side is good too. My sandwich included sauerkraut which adds an additional layer of flavor. The price is what I expect in Montclair so it is no surprise. I say try a sandwich. You never know if you like it till you experience one yourself. I will go back in the near future. Hopefully the second pastrami sandwich will be just as delightful as the first.
