I first went to another company whom didn’t seem to care or want to spend the time investing in me to invest in them. I then went to Dive Academy and Wow I was welcomed and sat down went through what I wanted to achieve, talked about how to do that set up my learning plans at a steady pace for me, with my disability taken into count. Which has changed because I have not dive for a while and was nervous to begin with because of personal reasons. Which the help of Darren, Louise, Rob, Frank and Simon DM I have got back to where I was before. I am looking forwarded to the other courses I’m booked on for which are AOW, DUP, NightDiver, PPB, Rescue, Deep and then im going to get my Diver master, I would not consider doing my training with another company because the support I have received is more that I was expecting, Everyone within the club is willing to help each other out. I have been diving a lot and I have currently a total dive time of 21hrs and 35 min of underwater time, I have been to Lundy, Durdle door, Newton Cove, Chisel, I have dives planned for Cornwall. I have completed my 25th Dive certificate with Dive Academy and Im currectly nearly at 50th Dive. I am a completely different diver from when I started up again from when I first learn. I have improved with my nervousness all because of the fantastic support of all the instructors, Dive Master and other divers. All learning is taken at my step and I’m a slow learner and I’m have never felt rushed or pushed into something I’m not comfortable with doing. With there onsite pool helps with training and also building up on your skills you learn to self improve. Best advice I was given which has help me loads is to get out there and DIVE, DIVE, DIVE. This has changed me so much. When buying my equipment I got excellent service and advice from Darren when being kitted out and if I have any questions after sales they are there to answer it to help keep the equipment in the best condition for keeping it in tip top condition so it last longer. I also feels that if Darren or Louise has not used it themselves they won’t sell it in their shop. You can feel the passion when you walk in then store. Alway friendly and alway helpful on land and underwater. I also had to redo my OW which was a great experience and a positive thing as my orginal instructor who taught me in Devon didn’t teach me all the things I needed to do so I learned new skills. I would like to say a Special Thank you to Darren and Frank instructor for getting me to where I am now. I would also like to make a special Thanks to Simon Dive Master for all the support he has given me and diving with me on every course I been on and watching my improvement.
I wanted a Dryrobe for my wife but nowhere near me sells them and I was a bit nervous about buying mail order without seeing it or knowing what size to get. Dive Academy gave me good advice by email and were spot-on about the size. My wife loves her Dryrobe now and has found it great for all sorts of things like camping and even just enjoying cool evenings in the garden. I'll definitely buy anything similar from here in future.
Having put off learning to dive for quite a few years more than we should mostly on account that when abroad on holiday the last thing we wanted to do was spend 3 or 4 days in the classroom my partner and I decided to bite the bullet and learn to dive. We looked around a little with an aim to get trained and settled on The Dive Academy in Yeovil. We rang 'em up and were met with a helpful and friendly response, so much so we headed on over there that same day. For us it was around an hours drive away with other schools closer but it was well worth the time, the Dive Academy was found clean, fresh and tidy and quite unlike a lot of diving centres that often seem a little dark and dusty!.... We liked the look of the place and Darren and Louise who run it were really professional. We signed up for a PADI Open Water Referral Course, the aim being to get all the training and pool dives done at home, then head off to the sun for the open water dives and certification not least as it was the middle of the winter and the UK waters are way too cold!. We got onto the PADI Divers Touch E-Learning scheme which the folk at Dive Academy sorted out for us and we were soon underway.... We did a load of e-learning in and around the doing pool dives and other training, it was much more detailed than that which we imagine you'd get whilst on holiday abroad and of course with no language barrier. The Dive Academy has a bespoke on-site training pool that really is first rate to learn in, way better than using a public pool and a good deal warmer worth remembering as you'll spend a fair bit of time in the water learning all the skills. The good thing too is alongside the pool and the on-site training room is a well stocked shop - its always nice to have shiny new things and we ended up buying a set of Mares Carbon 52X regulators each - on which we were given a great price! We got the course done and completed the open water dives in Thailand and are now flying or rather diving!, we just came back from hols again and are already knocking up a good few dives in our log books. We are off to French Polynesia next year for more diving - we have been before but not dived, we missed out! - we are so looking forwards to getting under water here it really will be a joy. We really do have The Dive Academy to thank for putting us on the dive scene and they were first rate from start to finish - They'll even be able to service our 'regs next year when due as a Mares authorised dealer - what more could you ask? If like us you want to learn but never quite get there give The Dive Academy a try - they'll support you all along the way and after, as they are us.
Great experience with them twice now for a tank and BCD service. Staff are all friendly and knowledgeable.
I’ve just finished my training of Open water diving and absolutely loved it! My instructor Sean was so patient with me even I was very slow learner and did a good job to shift me from concerned and scared student to confident diver All staff were very helpful and professional. Thank you so much! I had great experience and I can’t wait to come back for more courses and underwater adventures!
Rescue Diver Course: Absolutely fantastic experience, I have done several instructor trained courses ranging from Skiing to Life Saving, and by far the teaching on this course has been A Grade and the best I have experienced so far. After completing Open Water and Advanced Open Water with Dive Academy I sought out to complete arguably the most rewarding of courses PADI provide. The training for this course was thorough and rewarding, the teaching covered all of the skills which are required for full training, and more. The small add ons such as: added scenarios and mixed situations gave a quality to the course which made you feel more prepared as a rescue diver. The equipment and organisation supplied was also A Grade. There was plenty of information and teaching on how different pieces work and also how to treat certain issues, which meant you feel more prepared for all situations, no matter what you have available to you in real life. Any questions which I had in any section of the course or any part of diving I was given detailed and helpful feedback. Before and after the course, asking for help on any section to do with diving, whether it be equipment queries or general knowledge I have felt it best to ask Dive Academy over any other source. If you need any questions answered, they will have a helpful response. I would undoubtedly recommend this course and any of the other courses which Dive Academy provide. Their expertise, training, and teaching have impressed me beyond belief, with quality of training and willingness to make sure you are prepared being put ahead of everything else.
Avoid!!!! Bad company poor customer service will take your money £756 Never done Scuba diving end up in Hospital picking up a virus from the pool. No refund. Will sell you kit even if you have no experience poor instructor in the pool blames The student the mask didn’t fit my face offered me children mask due to my face features being a Mix race guy.
A family member was asked to pay for equipment he didn’t need or want costing over £700 dive instructor didn’t listen when they said that the mask wasn’t fitting properly and made a remark about his features and told him to put a child’s mask on which in this COVID world is very unhygienic. When I phoned the company and explained that my family member ended up in hospital due to swallowing water from the pool and asked for a partial refund it was blankly refused and was not interested at all very bad customer service and would advise anyone who wants to learn to go elsewhere horrifying experience
