Quick and easy way to see views of the city and beyond. Tram operators were helpful in pointing out different landmarks and there's even a map above the front and back tram viewing windows to give you an idea of what you are looking out at. Once you're at the top, there are a couple of viewing areas, but because you are also at a hospital you cannot go in unless you have a reason to i.e. hospital staff or visitor so plan accordingly as in eat first and use the restroom before you ride the tram up. We made it fun by first stopping at Blue Star Donuts a few blocks from the lower tram station to grab coffee and donuts. While you can't eat on the tram, you can enjoy your food and coffee at the donut shop and use the restroom there before riding the tram. Go early! We went up at 9am on a Saturday when it opened and by the time we got back down before 10am there was a line at the station.
It’s one of Portland’s tourist attractions. It was just beautiful and perfect. I highly recommend it if u went to Portland Definitely give it a try.
As a tourist - its a great way to view the city from atop for $5.65 round trip fare. Pretty short but steep ride. Super views of the city & on clear days you can see Mt Hood & even so far as Mt St Helens. Once up there, there are scenic lookout & chill spots outside the hospital campus.
It's a 3 minute ride each way, with picturesque views of all of downtown Portland. And the Tilikum Crossing bridge is within walking distance, along with many various shops and restaurants. I highly recommend visiting and experiencing it for yourself.
A very neat, if not mildly terrifying, experience. Tourists should be mindful that locals use these to get to work/appointments/school. The tram wasn't too crowded, but it would have been nice to get a better view at the front. We got to see a guy out on the edge to grease the pistons, and he said it was his first day doing that- that guy is the bravest guy in Portland! For the incredible vantage point of the city, it's totally worth the price.
Views are spectacular from the ride up the tram overlooking Portland, well worth the cheap entry price. Public transportation can bring you to this side of Portland as well, so it has easy access.
Worth a trip up for the beautiful views at the top. The top is just a hospital with a couple viewing decks that offer fantastic views of the city, all the way to Mount Hood and Mount St. Helens on clear days. There's otherwise not a lot to do up there. IIRC, a round-trip ticket is $4.
I was surprised how busy this place was, but I did not have to wait very long to ride the tram. Once on the tram, it moves fast and smooth except when it goes over the post. The tram swings a lot more than I thought it would. It only swings for a few seconds after going over the post. On a good weather day you can see Mt Hood. The view in the fall time is amazing. When you are at the top, there is an observation area that you can sit and relax and take in the wonderful view. It was fun to sit and watch the tram go up and down.
Totally worth it has super awesome views! Fun memory, something new you haven't already been there done that to death! Just go!
Well worth the $5.10 for the round trip! Great view going up, at the top, and coming down! Gem that Portland has here! Definitely go to the top and check things out! Don't get stuck at the top though! Otherwise you'll need to Uber down or walk.
