Fabulous farmer's market every Wednesday and Saturday! You can find seedlings, fresh produce, fresh cut flowers, and baked goods for sale. I always leave with something delicious! Parking can be tricky, so I recommend going on the earlier side to guarantee easy parking.
Get the fresh baked bread!!! What are you even doing if you are not buying their home made $5 bread loaves? That’s barely more than Trader Joe’s and theirs is assembly line nonsense. $5 is a pretty good price for crazy good bread. You will regret nothing. Even other things in life - those regrets will fade away when you bite this bread. Trust. Also, beet bundles for $3.50. That’s like ~30% of the Trader’s price, which was previously the cheapest I’d found anywhere. These are heirloom crazy beautiful beets. Also cardamom blueberry jam, amaretto cherry jam, and peach bourbon jam. Those are spendier at $8-9/9 oz as of this weekend, but think about what it takes to grow a fruit tree then make some booze, then make some jam with those things combined, and design & print a cute little label, and a decorative bottle, and load and haul it in a truck to a pop up stand in the middle of Portland — and now pause from these calculations & eat some, if the fates allow —and you will start to see the light, I think, if economics permit such exquisite decadence. Jam lasts awhile. Skip a single Starbucks run or fast food run and you’re already in the same bracket in terms of cost. But really, the bread dudes are cool. We saw them up in Damariscotta later that same day & they hollered. Then we got back home & ate the bread with said jam and have now doubled down on this being the best bread source.
I go here anytime I can convince myself to wake up before 2pm on a Saturday. You get to know the vendors. There's always music and tons of dogs. I went today even though I didn't want to buy anything, just because it's so lovely. Beautiful fruits and veggies, but also meats, dairy, mushrooms, flowers, bread, crafts. One of my favorite Portland thingies!
Quality farmers market. The produce is fantastic. The quality of the crafts leave a little wanting. The wading pool and public piano are tons of fun for the kids.
Always a great experience, lots of locally grown fresh produce, fermented foods, cheeses, yogurt, meats, eggs, mushrooms and oysters Emily's oyster knife will have you safely shucking like an expert
Fewer vendors on this last day for the outside Farmers Market in Deering Oaks...I was there at 730am...easy parking...Got what I needed and will continue to shop at the Indoor Market on Steven's Ave ..." keeping it local"
Great place to buy local farmers products. As well as take children to learn how to plant the food we grow
Be sure to get here early as they tend to sell out of items you may want 1-2 hours prior to closing. Most of the vendors are friendly & helpful.
Awesome farmers market. So many vendors and such a wide variety of product including some nice meat and cheese vendors. Will be back next time in Portland.
Unexpectedly big market. Great choice of vegetables and fruits. An interesting place even just for walking.
