Story

Welcome to Portofino’s Ristorante Italiano e Pizzeria. With three Charlotte-area locations, we pride ourselves on creating menus inspired by a timeless passion for food. The city of Portofino is on the coast of Northern Italy and it is where food, wine and la dolce vita (the sweet life) are a beloved way of living. Our goal is to bring la dolce vita to you when you dine with us.

Each Portofino’s restaurant is staffed by friends and family, many of whom are originally from Italy. We start with authentic Italian recipes and make them our own by working with what is fresh seasonally in our area, using local items when possible. The food has to be delicious, so we use only the finest ingredients in our cuisine. We have a passion for wine and for food, as well as an enjoyable experience in our restaurants.

Whether your passion is pasta or pizza, seafood or meats, cheeses or vegetables, we look forward to welcoming you to Portofino’s Ristorante Italiano e Pizzeria.

"Welcome to Portofino's Ristorante Italiano e Pizzeria. Three Charlotte area locations, plus our newest in Indian Land, SC. Authentic Italian cuisine a warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Our very first Portofino's Restaurant was opened on Eastway Drive in Charlotte in 1996. Later, Portofino's on Park Road opened, followed by Portofino's at the Arboretum. Portofino's Indian Land opened in May 2018."

We celebrated my husband’s birthday with 22 family and friends.  Totally enjoyed everything we ate at Portofinos. The shrimp scampi was awesome. I added the pink vodka sauce and ate until I was full as a tick at a dog show!!! Going back again today!!! This is our family’s new favorite Italian spot.

My husband and I were out on a dinner date and he chose Portofino’s restaurant. It was our first time dining here. Out experience was a bit interesting at first with the hostess. We requested a booth, but there was not one available for 25 minutes. We were ok with the first available table or booth. We just didn’t want to sit directly at the front door with the continuous flowing draft since we were both just getting over being sick. The hostess apparently misunderstood our request. Moving forward, our first impression was changed once our waitress  Val took over. Val was very friendly, professional, and attentive to our table. We took her up on her food and drink recommendations. We ordered, garlic bread w/ parm for appetizer. Our meals were The Taste of Italy and Shrimp and scallop pasta. All of the food was amazing. It was fresh, piping hot and very flavorful. The food portions were hefty. The Italian Job cocktail was a good job for me..Lol, I couldn’t finish it all. The water was very refreshing and Val did not disappoint with her customer service.

Outstanding Restaurant! Had Veal Parm I asked for heavy sauce for lunch with pasta. Sauce was great, cheese spot on, and the veal was very flavorful too. Great place!! Friendly staff too.Recommended dishesChicken Parmigiana

The service was great. We made a reservation there for a family get together and they were fast with drinks and food. All of the food came at once and it was all hot and fresh. They checked on us multiple times during the meal for anything we needed like refills. We really enjoyed our time and the food. I really liked how they box your food up for you. Different for me since I don’t tend to go to nicer places often lol!  Features: All employees were wearing masks correctly.

Really enjoyed the meal, atmosphere, and the friendly service.  Great place to eat.

Disappointed, so badly wanted chicken marsala to be good, think they use cheap cooking wine.  Chicken parmesan wasn't good either, sauce didn't taste cooked, it's a simple dish so hard to understand.  Definitely won't be going back.

It’s good, but not delicious in terms of food.  Simple place more like a tavern.  I prefer al dente pasta and Al dente veggies in it.  Their way of cooking is closer to well done, broccoli is over done. Pasta is good, sauces are little watery to my taste.   Overall impression was good. Quite chilly inside during winter season. Service is nice and accommodating to the requests.

Service great, food great, serving size huge! This location is so much better than the others. The flavor is popping for sure! They offer wine options with chosen dish.

Very nice atmosphere and great side salad. Our server was not very friendly until we ordered a pricier appetizer, the fried calamari, which tasted like it was from a bag. He also didn't develop an "italian" accent until after we ordered our food. May try again, only because I love Italian food, and they may have been having a bad night.

The food is always outstanding and the service is excellent. The dinner portions are plentiful.  We’ve  learned to share if we don’t won’t leftovers. Of course, leftovers are always better the next day too. One of the best Italian Restaurants in Charlotte.
