Gorgeous hike along a dog friendly trail. Beautiful views of the river and falls. Got to see a fish feeding in the river with over a dozen large fish and a cormorant trying to dice and eat them. Everyone on the trail was polite and followed the idea of "leave only footprints."
Gorgeous forest walk. Dog friendly. One word of caution: the surface is calm but the current made for a challenging swim for our dog. Otherwise a perfect day!
This us a great place to swim, walk, run, or see rageing water. I tested the water, and it was clean as well. I'm a chemist.
This place is amazing. Easy quick hike, great for relaxing walk through the woods. River is beautiful, air is fresh, and there is a small waterfall. Totally worth a visit. It takes around 2 - 3 hours if you take your time exploring, but I bet you can get it done in less than 2 if you just go point A-B and back.
Just found this trail a couple of weeks ago and we cannot wait to do it again! The trail markers are a bit confusing, and we got a little bit lost getting back to our car, but other than that, it was a great easy hike. A lot to look at and soak in with a waterfall area which was quite nice. Bring your leashed dog & bring your kids. I have severe asthma and this was a good one even for me. *COVID-19 concerns - trail is a popular one and is not 6 feet wide. Please bring a mask and be kind to your passing neighbors!
We just went to take some pictures and spend some time on the river bed. Amazing place hiding amidst the residential area. On our way back we lost our track in the trail and went along the river for quite some time. It was starting to get dark, when we realized that we are not going the right way. With the help of Google maps, we came out of the trail just in time and then it was totally dark. Thank God! Kindly install more sign for directions.
Been here a few time and its a great trail network. Small enough to do the whole think in 1-2 hours but you can take your time and do different sections. Nice for dogs
Nice little preserve area in the Portland area. There's a lot of developed city/suburban life around, so this is a good nearby get-away. Seemed to be plenty of locals enjoying the preserve when I was there based on vehicle plates. Always a good thing. The trails, bridges and signage were all pretty well maintained. Though it doesn't seem there's a lot of funding. One log staircase was in need of a little love and the sign warning of the rapid/falls area was hanging by only the right side. That aside, great spot to stop for a couple quick hiking trails before heading off to, let's say, the nearby Allagash brewery.
Beautiful nature preserve. Paths go down to and along the river. Great in all seasons. Not crowded. Lots of people with dogs.
A beautiful and peaceful place to walk your dog, ride a bike or go for a run.
