Story

Private Picassos provides custom art lessons and activities throughout the Tri-State area and at our Art Studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

We believe in the intrinsic power of the arts and strive to help build self confidence in our students.

In addition to refining our students’ fine motor skills, our program also improves their verbal and visual vocabularies and helps them discover new and exciting art techniques. All of our classes focus on exploration of materials and creative problem-solving rather than mimicry of adult-level art mechanics. We emphasize art instruction grounded in the intuitive elements of the fine arts, not merely on arts and crafts. We strive to provide our students with a better appreciation of the arts and their own thoughts and abilities.

All of Private Picassos' art instructors have extensive experience teaching art to students of all ages, and almost all have degrees in art education. Many of our competitors hire artists, rather than art teachers. This distinction is very important; not only have our art teachers been trained in formal art pedagogy and have teaching experience, but they have also made a conscious decision to teach art to children and adults.

We have built a strong reputation by consistently delivering high quality programming at our client’s convenience and have been recognized by online, television and print publications, including the TODAY Show, PIX11 News, The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business and NY Family Magazine. Our program is offered throughout the Tri-State area, including New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Connecticut and New Jersey. We also offer museum tours and art birthday parties, as well as programming for parents and adult students.
