Story

Profile Theatre, a professional company founded in 1997, celebrates its seventeenth season in 2014 with the works of Sam Shepard. Over the past fifteen years, Profile has brought the works of such prestigious playwrights to its Portland stage as Romulus Linney, Lanford Wilson, John Guare, Wendy Wassterstein, Edward Albee, Neil Simon, Harold Pinter, Terrence McNally, Lee Blessing and Athol Fugard.
Many have personally joined Profile to participate in rehearsals of their plays, to present new scripts, and to share personal insights with audiences in talk-backs and special events, enriching the Portland theatre experience.

Profile’s mission is to produce a season of first-class productions and community engagement activities centered around a single writer whose vision broadens our perspective on our world and deepens our collective compassion.
