For more than 50 years Progress House has endured as a residential recovery facility for high-risk alcohol and drug-addicted men.
Progress House saves lives and affects change. That is why we exist, to help other alcoholics and addicts to recover.
Progress House is a 501(c)3 Recovery Home for men over the age of 18. We work on personal growth while abstaining from all illicit drug and alcohol use. Progress House was founded in 1961 and has been in operation for 56 years. We are the oldest and largest Recovery Residence for men in the State of Indiana, serving 120 men total.
Asking for help is the most crucial first step anyone can take on the road to recovery. We accept only those willing to surrender to their addiction. Upon entry to the House, residents begin with an assessment and an agreed upon recovery plan.
Our programming is based on the 12 Step philosophy, that once we straighten out spiritually, we straighten out physically and mentally. The staff at Progress House works closely with our residents to address the physical, mental and spiritual needs of each resident. One of the keys to our success is the therapeutic value of addicts and alcoholics working with other addicts and alcoholics, admitting there is a problem; seeking help; engaging in a thorough self-examination; confidential self-disclosure; making amends for harm done, and eventually helping others with substance use disorders who want to recover.
We endeavor to instill in our residents a healthy value system which includes:
* Learning responsibility to self and others
* Sensitivity to self and others
* Accountability to self and others
* How to make appropriate decisions and choices
* Self-discipline and manageability
* Community, connecting to others through the social model of recovery
A 90-day minimum requirement is necessary to successfully complete Phase I of our program. Most residents complete Phase II near the six-month mark, at which time they can apply for residency at Next Step. At Next Step, our residents complete Phase III and Phase IV.
We claim spiritual progress, not spiritual perfection.
Our mission is to save lives and affect change.
Progress House provides transitional housing, counseling, life skills programming and a sober living environment for men with a history of addiction and homelessness who are motivated to develop and maintain a responsible, productive and healthy lifestyle. Progress House strives to be financially self-sufficient and requires each resident to make monetary and/or non-monetary contributions. We are committed to empowering each of our residents to recover from addiction and re-enter society as a productive, law-abiding citizen.
