proper bagel

We are from NY and these bagels are the real deal. This is a modern update on a great NY concept. The selection of custom cream cheeses, salads, and unique housemade bagel butters was unlike anything we've seen before. We had the whitefish salad bagel sandwich and a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with butter pecan. Both were excellent. Service was excellent too. To the fellow New Yorker giving a 2 star review, I don't see anywhere in their marketing that they claim to be a "NY Jewish-style deli". They claim to make great bagels, and they do :)

Such an amazing way to start the day. It was great place to have breakfast without waiting in too long of a line (at least during the non-school months). The line moves pretty quickly and they allow tasting of the spreads if you're unsure. I got the everything spinach bagel and it was delicious. Coffee was a little pricey, but other than that, everything was worth it.

The bagels are good and so is the selection. They tend to put a LOT of cream cheese on their bagels so be aware of that. Can be a long wait with limited seating. I suggest going early or later in the morning

this place blew my mind. I have never experienced cream cheese flavors like this and the bagels were lovely. Coffee is super strong, beware!

Being a New York transplant, I was eager to try Proper Bagel, which claims to be a NY Jewish-style deli. My husband and I drove almost 20 miles, only to be greatly disappointed. He ordered the New York Leo of scrambled eggs and lox, which was fine but hardly worth $9. I had the Fig & Prosciutto toast with Brie and arugula for $12.50. The arugula was piled so high I had to remove it to find the prosciutto and brie cheese. The single slice of prosciutto was sliced so razor thin I could see through, while the 2 small pieces of brie cheese if put together wouldn't cover half the toast. The coffee was strong, bitter, and nearly undrinkable. New York Jewish delis are know for generous portions, not here. Over priced and over-hyped. This isn't a NY Jewish style deli, rather a pseudo-attempt for college kids who don't know the difference.
