Went in at 730am for evaluation of facial swelling and seen by about 9am. A reasonable wait time given that I was not in need of urgent medical attention. All staff were friendly and helpful and the check-in/checkout process was simple. Dr. Berliner was personable, conducted a thorough evaluation, and provided clear and concise recommendations. My prescription was sent to my local pharmacy and was ready by the time I arrive to pick it up. I spent just under two hours at the ER which is reasonable to me. I'm satisfied with the overall ER experience.
Poor service. Horrible scenario, Overdose teen half dead in the waiting room. Another lady crying of pain over two hours in the waiting room. No oe seems to care about patients coming in . People in handcuffs waiting in with the rest patients. Elderly lady come in an ambulance in really delicate health was put a a wheelchair an left in the waiting room.
The ER is horrible . Wait times are ridiculous. I went in with extremely bad abdominal pain, so bad that sitting upright made it worse. I waited for about an hour and 45 minutes before going to the staff and telling them I was getting worse. I really needed to lay down. The nurse told me security wouldn't allow me to lie down on the floor... I didn't request to lay down on the floor, I just needed immediate care... at least a place to lay down. She told me I had 7 ppl ahead of me and the one before me had been waiting for nearly 4 hours. I couldn't wait. I was so mad and in severe pain... I understand wait times but when a patient is experiencing serious pain and crisis, then those patients should be bumped up. I left and went to Alaska Regional. I was called within 20 minutes. Immediately taken care of and given medication to reduce pain to include lidocaine to numb my stomach. I was shaking from the pain level and was treated kindly and with care. H Pylori and ulcers is what was causing the pain. Never again will I use Providence. They don't have their priorities in order.
Very good experience taking a family member to be seen for a kidney stone. RN Lauren, ER Dr Pomerantz, and specialty physician Dr Aftreth were all fast, polite, and professional. Thank you Providence ER!
It's not possible to give zero Stars, I had to give at least one star. The doctor was actually very good but the management of the facility and the staff were horrendous. My wife was in a serious vehicle accident with multiple broken bones, a concussion, and other injuries. She literally waited for hours without any care whatsoever and only got attention when I started asking for a transfer to Alaska regional hospital. If you are conscious or with a loved one in need of care do not allow them to be taken to this place. While patients were suffering and in pain there were large groups of staff members just standing around staring at their computers. Truly a terrible terrible place. Based on prior experience, I can also assure you that the bill you receive will be wildly high in comparison to the care received.
Went for lower abdominal pain. Wait wasn't too crazy, about 1hr 45 minutes. The people that work here are truly amazing and very caring. This included everyone I met from check in, registration, overseeing doctor Dr. T and nurses, ultrasound, cat scan, transport, and finally the operating room. Was lucky to have an incredible, kind and caring OBGYN Dr. E - she removed two cysts and corrected my ovarian torsion. Ended up being a 13 hour visit and received excellent care.
I went in to the ER last night on the advice of my orthopedic provider. I had called them with some troubling new symptoms and they told me to go to the ER. I arrived thinking I was probably fine and just doing my due diligence. Since I live off-grid 2 hours away from Anchorage, I did not arrive until 10 PM. The triage staff was kind, professional and fast. I was spirited away to a room instantly. My nurse, Luke, was a rock star. He was kind, listened well, and did not mind my terrible Mathew McConaughey impressions. My physician was Dr. Berliner, who was very compassionate and immediately ordered an MRI of my brain and neck. He was upfront about how long I would have to wait for the MRI Busy night at the ER. I was given warm blankets and pain relief while I waited and I was actually able to get the MRI sooner than expected. Yes, there was quite a bit of waiting, but I am so happy I went in. I was wrong to downplay my symptoms and have a bigger issue than I thought. My experience at the ER was a good one. I was treated with compassion, received pain relief when I needed it, and a nurse helped me get dressed I could not move my arm much when I was being discharged.
Worst experience of my life. Went in with the most extreme pain I have ever had. I didn’t know pain like this was possible. They miss diagnosed me. They thought the whole time it was a kidney stone and when the readings came back that it wasn’t the doctor seemed to have a hurt ego. Said I had an pneumonia and game me some pills and told me to come back if I was worse. I tired to go back but after sitting in the waiting room in complete agony they said they are full and nothing they can do, as I’m sitting there bent over yelling because of the pain, my wife brought me to Ak Regional where I was take back immediately and after they ran the tests providence was completely wrong. I spent 3 days in icu and 10 days in the hospital. Thank god for the staff at Ak Regional they were amazing and saved my life. If you are able to choose I highly recommend going to regional.
Terrible quality of care… I can’t say enough about the horror experienced here. The Alaska NATIVE Medical Center is the best!
This hospital is poorly runned. Alot of staff are uneducated don't know how to communicate. Don't help emergent needs. I don't recommend if you have insurance go someplace else.
