I had a good experience eating at Rainbow Drive-In in Liliha area. Service was excellent and food was fresh. My friends liked their food as well.Food: 5/5
Good food and friendly staff. My pork cutlet was hot, fresh, and delicious. Not too busy around 1pm and there's parking in the back. Parking: Parking is limited.
Feels like straight out of my school tuck shop. Similar to a side stand to KL from Singapore. Had the Mix Plate Lunch. A fair amount of rice, Meats were ok. May want to consider adding gravy as it can be dry. Nice experience indulging the Hawaiian food
Was recommended to us by our lyft driver. Food came out hot and fresh. About the same price as everything else on this island. Could have used maybe a little bit hot sauce, that might just be my preference. The macaroni salad is amazing next time I just eat a couple of cups of that . The dinner portions are very large. Between mounds of white rice and macaroni salad I don't know why anyone would be hungry. Parking: Street parkings a little hard. you can always park at the Bishop's museum a couple of blocks away for cheap
Fresh off a 5 hour flight, hungry and parched and wanting something local. Rainbow Drive-in hit all the check boxes. The food was amazing. The service was prompt and courteous. The atmosphere was very laid back. The only downside was limited seated. Vegetarian options: Needed dairy free option and the BBQ pork sandwich was ideal. Kid-friendliness: A hot dog and a slush, kid Nirvana
I have been to this place twice and each time doors are open lights on . So I'm thinking let's eat . One of the times there was an employee in uniform cleaning and washing his car in the parking lot and I said good morning. No response just a fast glance. I get inside to the counter and wait there is no one in the back front not anyone. As I got hungry we left and looked for the store hours and ten more minutes and they would open I really wanted too but just past the dude cleaning his car and hit good ol jack in the box
This place sucks for a few reasons. The customer service is terrible, they charge you for a bag if you want to take your food to go no other restaurants do that, and they don’t take cash! Then, they charge you extra to pay with a card! What a scam! Do yourself a favor and eat someplace else. There is an L&L drive in close by, which has the same food options.
We got carry-out from here, and we were so happy! The bbq beef was so incredible! I really wanted to go back to get seconds. It was about 30 min drive from where we were staying. So worth the drive! My husband ordered the Loco moco, and it was just okay. The beef patties were very thin and not the best tasting in our opinion. Our favorite place on the island for Loco moco has been at a food truck at Polynesian Culture Center. So again, the bbq beef is highly satisfying here, and we would recommend that. The macaroni salad was also pretty good. I also ordered the Saimin here, and that was okay. This was my first time trying it, so I have nothing to compare it to. If I came back here, I wouldn't get the saimin again because it tasted like basic noodles in a cup very light seasoning. I have no picture of my bbq beef because once I tasted it I couldn't stop eating.
I got the loco moco plate and it was good. The Mac salad was saucy and heavy on the mayo. When I went it was empty and not busy, I think this location is not as busy as the others but a gem for sureFood: 5/5
Tried Rainbow Drive -in with the fam during our stay in Honolulu. The order included the school combo burger/fries, bbq beef plate, chili w rice, bbq pork sandwich, loco moco, and the boneless chicken w gravy combo. Most of the combos come with a slushy. What bothered me was that they attempted to charge me another $1.25 for lettuce and tomato on the burger when the picture of the combo clearly includes lettuce and tomato. The workers claimed that the posters have old pictures but we ordered from those pictures. They hesitated and ended up giving it to me no charge. Food was edible. There are so many amazing places to eat on this island and I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time here.
