I revisited this place on Dec 13, 2021 and experienced the same friendly service. We came a little early, but the door was unlocked and we were greeted warmly and seated. I love visiting a place where I feel like they are happy working there and happy to serve me. The interior looked upgraded from my last visit. I loved the flooring and the wood panel on the wall. There was a big screen over the top of the kitchen entrance that had ambient coloring changing screens. The food and service was awesome as usual. Pricing seemed more expensive than my last visit, but since the pandemic, it's been my experience in other restaurants as well. I liked that the employees were masked.
Hands down the best ramen noodles I have ever ever had! Completely Fell in love with the pork buns. I love the dishes from a local artist, the decor and the overall ambiance of this place. Nicole was amazing! Great, now I'm craving noodles.
A wonderful Ramen Shop, as always! Dinner menus are hand drawn and written, often menus we'll have different descriptions from each other. Very fun! A wide range of ramen types, from traditional to Exotic and expensive. I went on a limb and tried the chocolate Ramen, it was very interesting and very good! Still not sure if it was supposed to be a dessert Ramen. I love the risk and bold menu choice!
Local friends took me to this place and I can not believe it isn’t packed from the moment they open. Every dish is done with fantastic attention to detail and is as tasty as anything you’ll get in Japan. Not exaggerating here. The gyoza are delicious and delicate with a perfect crispy hot base. The pork buns, the crispy fish buns, the shrimp shumai, chicken kara age… superbly done and delicious. And then the Ramen… the spicy miso, the ramen star signature, spicy kimchi, miso, shoyu…fantastic. If you like ramen and Japanese izakaya style food, get to this place asap.
Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service! Everything was perfect and the price was not bad for the portion sizes at all! If you like Ramen this place is a must try ! We had also tried more foods but I ate them too fast for a photo, THAT is how good it looked lol
This place reminds me of shops I used to frequent daily when I lived in Yokohama and Tokyo. I love that the flavors are traditional yet unique! This place can get super busy for a small shop so the wait times can be lengthy. The flavors are robust and the staff is friendly. Great for a date night if you can beat the crowd.Recommended dishesVegetable Miso Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, Ramen Star Ramen
Very mediocre and way overpriced. Service was slow too, but they only had one server for the entire place so it wasn’t the servers fault because he was nice and hustling as fast as he could. It’s not that it tasted bad, but the prices are just wayyy too expensive for what you get. I’ve had much better ramen for cheaper. They charge you $2 for an egg on top of an already $18 bowl of ramen. Skip the shishito peppers too if you are thinking about getting them and try the bao buns instead. I feel bad writing such a harsh review but it’s hard not to with all three: subpar food, expensive prices, and slow service.
I am incredibly conflicted and writing this review. The ramen was phenomenal, but the experience was one of the worst dining experiences that I've had all year. We went on a Friday night and got there at about 6:00 p.m. and between walking into the door and getting our food it took almost exactly 2 hours. Ramen star does not let you do dinner reservations online and so we just had to stand in line with two different couples in front of us. So a total of four people that were ahead of us. It took 1 hour waiting in line before we were seated. There was nowhere for us to put down our information and there was no hostess to provide any information. You just had to wait until there was an open table and then the single server that was working would come to the front of the house and take whoever was still there to a table. You had no idea how long it was going to take and you had no opportunity to ask. We ordered the fried mackerel buns and then the ramen star ramen and the shoyu ramen. We each got a glass of water which was never refilled while we were at our table. It took about 25 minutes before we had our order taken. And then after we had our orders taken, it took another 35 minutes before the food actually came out. It was clear that they were getting overwhelmed by takeout orders, and there was only one person who was working full time as a server, while she was also taking phone orders. When we actually got our ramen I always pleasantly surprised with mine. The broth was delightful and the noodles were an amazing texture. The pork chashu was the best cashu that I've ever had. Unfortunately my wife did not have a similar experience. Her broth was already lukewarm by the time we got our food. The woman from the kitchen who brought us our food apologized once about the wait and thanked us for our patience, but nothing else was done. In my opinion, the restaurant should have stopped taking any takeout or delivery orders and focus then prioritized on the customers that they had waiting in the restaurant. It is a shame because I did really enjoy my ramen and maybe if they were less busy I would recommend coming here to other people, but having to wait 2 hours was just kind of unacceptable so I don't think we will ever return. One person came in to cancel their pickup order because they had been waiting over 60 minutes for their food and they did at least say that they have never seen the restaurant this busy. So maybe we just had an exceptional case but it's still just wasn't worth it at the end of the day for us.
Best bowl I’ve had in this state. Third time visiting, and today came straight from the airport. The tsukemen broth and noodles couldn’t have been more authentic, fresh, and flavorful. Truly a perfect ramen experience. The shumai were also insanely light and decadent, nearly got a second order to myself. My server Robert was super kind and enthusiastic. You’re a moron if u aren’t frequenting Ramen Star.
This was my first real ramen experience and it didn’t disappoint! Robert was an excellent host and told us more about the noodle making process. The hard work that went into the dish made it taste incredible!
