In terms of the work done and the business staying close to the quote, even going above and beyond to make sure I had good parts in my car, they were great. The three stars are for reasons I will detail below. I came in because my 01 4Runner was having serious suspension issues and throwing me all over the place with the slightest bump on my way from California and Oregon to Colorado. So I stopped in Utah to get it fixed. They had to fix/replace front and rear suspension parts. They quoted me an amount, called me back a few days later to say they weren’t happy with the parts that came in and so they would use a different supplier. Mad props for that. That itself is worth 5 stars. They also informed me that the work would be a little more but it wasn’t more than 20% of the original quote so I’m good. When the work was completed I went to drive it off the lot and noticed my steering choppy when the wheel was hard over usually means misalignment or bad tie rod ends. I had replaced the tie rod ends within the month and had just had the alignment done in Oregon before I got to Utah, which was no more than 24 hours previous. I told the shop this and the way they responded looked like they hadn’t done an alignment, which I would assume they would have to do when replacing or servicing steering and suspension components. They gave me the alignment report and it showed it was, in fact, out by a lot. They also charged me for the alignment and I was surprised and I would think that would have to be done anyway due to the nature of the work. This part is important, they said their work did not affect the alignment at all. So when I questioned why the alignment would be out between here and Oregon they said “they must have done it wrong”. However, I did get a before and after alignment report in Oregon. So while possible, I think it unlikely. They charged me 130 for the alignment. All this is a little beside the point. A little hinky but it’s an 01 vehicle and maybe the alignment is having trouble staying in, I don’t know. The reason for the three stars is when I questioned the charge for alignment, thinking that doing the alignment would be part and parcel with doing steering and suspension work. Mike, very rudely, and aggressively looked me in the eye and said “what, did you want me to pay for that?!” Now, at this point I am asking questions to fill in the gaps of logic that was happening in my mind concerning a very recent alignment job, the nature of the work performed in their shop, and the conversation that was had with the manager and service tech about whether the alignment was done the day before. Before I could process all that I am getting slammed in the face with a whole mess of attitude that seemed unprovoked and definitely unnecessary. I had little to say after that, paid my 130 dollars and left. The car has been trouble free ever since. And Red Rock Auto Repair has one less 5 star rating. Communication has always been my main motivator for a 5 star review. I think they did good work but obviously communication was lacking if I was surprised by the alignment charge and was spoken to the way Mike spoke to me. For that reason I will not return to their shop when I return to Salt Lake. So sorry.Service: General repairs & maintenance
I'm so happy I found this place. I've brought two cars in over the last couple of years and they're always friendly, fast, honest, and do great work. It's such a relief to have a mechanic close to home I can trust. John and team take good care of me.
Moving to a different state it took me some trial and error to find a shop I trusted. I can't recommend these guys enough. I had to do an expensive head gasket job on my Subaru so I got quotes from a lot of shops. Red Rock told me they might not be the cheapest but they would do it right. Turns out they were the cheapest and did a fantastic job quickly. Every time I've gone in since then they've been very upfront about what actually needs to be fixed and what can be put off. Honest about prices and never pushy. Very laid back atmosphere and it's nice to be able to have conversations with the experienced mechanics that will actually be doing the work themselves.
I would give 10 stars if I could!! I was in a bind. 4th of July- Broke down in Salt Lake City while towing a trailer from Washington to Las Vegas. Out of town and everything closed for the holiday. I took an Uber to the airport and rented a truck to get the trailer to Vegas and after reading reviews for several local shops I called AAA and had my truck towed to Red Rock. I left a note and a voicemail explaining my situation, that I broke down and had to get to Vegas but would be back in town the following Monday to hopefully pick up my truck. Then I prayed. John called me the next morning and although he was already extremely busy and backed up he said he would take a look at my truck. He called that afternoon and explained what he found. It had a few issues and not all could be done in the timeline I gave him. John stayed in contact with us and was very honest about issues he found with the truck, what he thought needed to be fixed so we could get home safely, his schedule and what he could do in the time frame we gave him. He explained everything clearly and was upfront about costs.we needed the truck fixed so told him to do what he thought needed to be done to get the truck back to Washington. When he called back a few days later with the total cost it was less than he originally stated. The truck was ready when we drove back to return the rental and we drove home with no issues!! John was a life saver!! Honest, knowledgeable, trustworthy, compassionate, A++++**********Services: Electrical
Great place to do business. They're up front with expenses and accurate in their estimate for how long things will take. It was easy to get ahold of them as well. I never felt pressured or stressed working with them and that's hard to come by in a repair shop.
