Initial service wasn’t the quickest or friendliest, but the food came out within 10 minutes and it was HOT! The curry goat, steamed vegetables and rice and beans were good, so was the chicken curry and the stewed chicken. I definitely enjoyed my meal. I’ve had better carrot cake. It was about $50 for 3 dishes and 2 drinks. Pretty good. Portions were the perfect size.
The food and service was really good. We got the brown snapper and it comes with rice and a veggie mixture. Large portions. My boyfriend and I shared and still had left overs. We also got a veggie patty, rum punch, and plantains. I gave 4 out of 5 star just because I wish the plantains were made fresh to order and the interior of the shop needs to be updated but overall I still had a great experience.
We stumbled upon this place while looking for something different and Reggae Hut did NOT disappoint. The portion was seriously out of control. Jerk Shrimp, shrimp were cooked perfectly, the jerk spice was INSANE. The veggies didn't just compliment the meal, they were good enough to rave about. The atmosphere here was also something to mention, the service was extremely friendly with that great Carribean music we all love.
I had a to-go oxtails plate. The oxtail didn’t have that authentic Jamaican taste. Your meal comes with sides and you can choose two but plantains isn’t one of them. If you want plantains, it’s extra. I had beef and chicken Patties and they were also okay. The staff was nice ! I wish I didn’t go use the restroom, it was gross!!!
The beef patties was spicy w/o being over powering. Flaky soft crust seasoning was excellent. Rice and peas could use some more seasoning but you can taste the authenticity in every bite. Brown stew chicken had a full rich flavor on the sweet side. Oxtail was fall off the bone juicy. I appreciate the fact the meat was NOT full up with fat all over it. A notable trait of amateurs. I can't wait to try the red snapper. The environment was definitely homey although in need of some repair. As you open the door the music hits you and then the aroma grabs you and pulls you in. Thanks to all who made the visit memorable.
If I could give ten stars, it still wouldn't be enough!!! The food was amazing and plenteous but even that was overshadowed by the customer service. I love LOVE all types of Caribbean food and have dined many places, this one tops them ALL! All of my food with the exception of the rice and peas was PERFECTLY seasoned with falling off the bone meat. The rice was a little on the sweet side for me, other than that ZERO complaints! My sister and I were greeted like royalty and treated like family as we paid for our carryout order. I look forward to getting back to Houston so we can dine in. Thank you so much for an AMAZING first experience. I wish you MUCH prosperity in the future!!!
Disappointed in the food and service. Purchased 2 oxtails plates and was charged $42.00 for each plate. The serving size did not match the price. I have never paid this much for oxtails. That’s not inflation, sounds more like price gouging. It’s a NO for me, I’ve had better food.
The food is absolutely amazing, but what got the 5 starts is their service. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Visiting my daughter who recently moved here from Atlanta. We we were going to take the hubby by turkey leg hut but he was fresh off the plane and imno one was answering the phones. We've been wanting to try this place so we ordered to go and sat in the car to wait. They were fresh and efficient. We ordered jerk chicken, curry goat, patty, plantains and oxtails and lemonade. Beware the price of oxtails just went up to 24.99. All the food has great spice. Location is great, parking a little challenging, portions were great, service great, food piping hot, taste was good and food was seasoned well. We all agreed we have had better every palette is different but all in all a great experience. Definitely return and have the rum punch and mojito, which they also serve to go.
Went for lunch on a Friday. First time eating at the Reggae Hut. Got there a little early and did not have to wait too long to order. Food came out within 10 minutes probably less. I had the Curry Chicken and my work colleague had the Jerk Chicken. Both of us thought our meals were delicious. Not only was my chicken juicy and tasty, the rice and veggies also tasted great! Plus we were served very generous portions! We each had 3 pieces of chicken in our respective plates! I'm definitely coming back to try out the rest of the menu!
