Renaissance Church

I’ve been a worship leader at a non denominational church in Boston and have recently moved to the area of Providence, and am currently checking out new churches. This Sunday I decided to check out Renaissance Church in Providence. Their website was very promising, and even the setting (building, music set up, size) was lovely. Although the community outreach and church body seemed nice enough, the most important parts were surely not. I have been a Christian for all my life and have heard a wide range of preaching styles. This preaching was by far the worst I have ever experienced. The Pastor was demeaning and judgmental to the point where he contradicted biblical teachings (1 Corinthians 16:14) that instruct us to love all. This speaks directly against the words of Jesus, and to be frank, I think Jesus would see this man much more as a Pharisee than one of his followers. I was incredibly disappointed with his hegemonic, uneducated way of speaking. I will not be back here, and I would advise new Christians and long time believers the same, to not attend this church.

Pastor Scott is not afraid to preach God's word. His fear of the Lord compels him to speak the truth even when the topic can be offensive or uncomfortable. The community is one that strives to live life on a way that would bring honor to Jesus in the way they love each other. I recommend anybody who is selling it have been attending church for many years to come and join.
