Great gym, great smooth diverse well maintained equipment, the male staff are excellent hard working and attentive. Large clean lockeroom. Cons: Not enough lower lb dumbbells, 25, 30, 35, 40, be prepared to fight for them..also the lights start going out during your workout 20 minutes before they close. Weird. But Retro is way better than any other gym chain out there and affordable. Join it, you won't be sorry.
Very low quality machines. Seats were torn up. Very small place. Small selection of weights. Almost every machine you had to load plates on it to choose the weight, whereas almost any other modern gym has more updated machines.
Went in on 12/25 for a free trial and the girl in the front said that I have been at the gym before. I told her politely that I never had been there and wanted to know about membership options. She became aggressive and said I need to pay for a one day pass. I paid for the pass and the girl rudely took my ID and said I could get it later and sat back down looking at her phone. Then when I came back to get my ID it took her 15 min to find it. Never coming back here
This gym is absolutely the worst! Equipment that breaks takes months to fix. 24 hour gym that stopped 24hr service pre-covid. Switched to opening at 6am, yet 6:15am and lights are off with a line outside. Guess no gym for me today because I actually need to be at work on time because I care about customers, but no worries i will go to the gym after work to cancel my membership and then go find another gym that actually opens when they say they do.
I adore this gym! always visit every day, and the blonde-haired girl at the entrance is always extremely kind and helpful!!
It is a major security flaw to lock an emergency exit door. They should be fined, I already made the complaint.
I go to Retro from time to time. I am a guest. I dislike the fact that I have to leave an ID to get in. Every other gym allows guests to have a tag of their own. Even worse, is the fact that there is NO WATER. You literally have to bring your own water bottles. It has been over 5 months and the water fountains don't work. They also don't give free water from their sink. In the time I have visited there, the quality has dropped. The treadmills need replacement. Some machines have had issues since February and still they haven't been fixed. My main gripe is the water fountain though. Seriously, it has been over a year since there was any water fountain. Fix the water fountain. Other than that, the girls are good and nice. The locker rooms are usually clean.
I love the place but I wish they told us they closing early tonight on Instagram because I had to travel over an hour in traffic and then had to miss my weekend workout
Undesirable location. Shifty area and a woman was shot and killed a few months ago right on the corner of Broadway. The gym itself seems overpriced. Much of the equipment is old and worn out from use. The lockers at least allow the use of larger and stronger locks compared to the dinky ones at Blink or PF. Joined for 2 months and had zero intention of renewing or extending any membership.
