Wonderful instructors for both mat and equipment Pilates classes and barre classes in a clean spacious studio. I've taken Pilates and barre classes in several places; independent studios, gym clubs, and franchise barre studios and none were as good as RTL Center. The instructors are knowledgeable and attentive which comes through in their explanations during exercises, reminders about of proper form, individual corrections and variations to accommodate different skill levels or injuries. The class sizes are limited to ensure all students have sufficient space and can be seen by the instructor. The studio is clean and comfortable with mats, equipment and props that are well kept.
I've attended weekly Pilates sessions here since September 2019. The whole staff is great, and my instructor Sara Ramsay is nothing short of amazing. Even after switching to Zoom classes for close to a year now!, Sara is somehow able to tell me exactly how to adjust and move, and always has a fun attitude while keeping the class challenging. I can say that doing pilates at RTL has had more positive impact on my overall health and especially back/core strength than any other thing I've tried other exercises, chiropractic, physical therapy, etc. Highly recommended, and, while it can be expensive, I think the long-term health benefits are very much worth it and something to invest in.
Definitely a game-changer! The instructors are AMAZING, they are attentive, patient and your health is their top priority. I've had lower back pain for 2+ years, the private lesson was the most help for the pain that I've had in 2 years of going to different doctors. The location is convenient and the studio itself is very clean, relaxing and comfortable. As soon as you walk through the door you're greeted and made to feel welcomed and comfortable. They offer beginners through advanced classes in Pilates, Yoga and Barre. I look forward to going to this studio for the exercise and for the people.
I highly recommend RTL Pilates! G and Emma run a top-notch studio. In pandemic times, their unlimited packages and zoom classes have been a wonderful respite. All of the teachers are great and have something unique to offer. If you are looking for a welcoming and personalized studio, this is the place for you! I look forward to also returning to their pleasant studio soon.
RTL is the best.The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable. As a tennis player and golfer, I rely on RTL to stay in competitive shape. They have done an incredible job of being there for their customers during the pandemic. RTL quickly pivoted to virtual and created a supportive online Pilates community. Thank you to Gudbjorg, Emma and all of the talented instructors! Special shout-out to Sara, Aleks and Ashley who I work with regularly and think are amazing!
I started working with RTL during COVID to rehab from a deep core injury, after researching a variety of options in NYC. I've done pilates off and on in my life, so I had some idea of what to expect. I was fortunate enough to be able to work with Emma, who is head and shoulders above any instructor I've worked with before. Given that I started during COVID, it was especially heartening to see how serious they take all health and safety precautions, and I always felt at ease and safe. The instruction was incredibly thoughtful and specific to my needs, and Emma took the time to help me understand why we were doing the movements we were doing, and how to properly execute each one. I've been working with her for several months now and my progress post injury is amazing. I feel more balanced physically than I have in ages, and even my wife has noted that my posture is better and I seem taller. I'd highly recommend RTL to anyone looking for a pilates studio I plan on doing some online classes next, and group classes when they open up wether in person or virtual!
My first class with Gudbjorg, referred to by most of you as G, was at a gym in Downtown Brooklyn. Since I have back problems, I usually don't take classes, but my first class with G and our private sessions together since then have been amazing. Gudbjorg is a great instructor, flexible and so smart and knows exactly how the body moves and what is required if something hurts. She is amazing. I am so happy for her nd her partners that they were able to open their own gym - it is clean, bright and very inviting for PIlates. Most of my time with RTL has been through Zoom sessions and I truthfully can say one of the reasons I have made it through this last year is my weekly training sessions with Gudbjorg.
Return to Life has really helped me recover from my knee injury. I used to routinely play soccer 4-5x weekly, but had to scale down to 1x weekly, sometimes eliminating it entirely. Thanks to RTL, I’ve been able to get back to playing 3-4x weekly, in addition to the pilates I do here, and the rock climbing I’ve taken up. Sara in particular is a great and attentive instructor, and I always leave happier, albeit more tired, than I arrived — but everyone at the studio is so warm and welcoming. RTL might be the best pilates studio in the city!
Best instructor I’ve ever had! Even though I’m new to the studio and have been doing it remotely with RTLC, I’ve never experienced anyone being more caring and attentive than them. My instructor talks to me on the weekly basis, not only trying to understand my prolonged issues but patiently helping me explore different approaches. The technique to target pains, in my opinion, is also very unique and satisfying!
When lockdown began, I knew thatI wanted to find a way to keep growing and trying new things. Pilates was something I had wanted to make a part of my exercise regimen and I decided to do an internet search to see if I could find an early morning virtual class. I tried a couple of different studios, but instantly fell in love with RTL. It became a part of my morning routine and I delight in the fact that I can experience instruction from teachers I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting in person. After each class, I feel stronger and ready to face the challenges that await me.
