Only giving two stars because it's not a place conducive for small kids. Also, it's in a remote location with terrible facilities. It was a bit let down for my family and I who traveled from North Little Rock. No cell service in case you needed to reach out in an emergency. The water is super cold and there were snakes. I heard the small mouth fishing is good in some areas but we didn't try our luck at it. Honestly, Arkansas has much better camping and things in far better locations. This is not one of those.

Beautiful and serene with raging Rapids sounds to put you to sleep at night. Most sites rents go on gravel, so bring heavy duty tarp. Floods often, closed for flooding in the site often. Great for kayaking.. not canoeing. Wonderful hiking, birding and herping. If you have car issues, dont try!!! Super tough rock road, slippery and steep with sharp windy turns, not big enough for trailers. DONT RECOMMENDED TRAILERS!!! you are taking your life in your hands! With trailer, go to longpond 45 minutes south on 16, easier to access and more facilities

This is a great area for camping, hiking and backpacking. The trail isn't hard unless you go up to the sandstone castle, that's a bit challenging but well worth it
