Good service and nice people, but prices were a bit steep. Was nice when all the other locations were open. Their hours are horrible, got to take a super long lunch or take the day off to go during the week or go between 11 and 3pm on Saturday which isnt always convenient when it's your only day off. Edit. It's not open on weekends anymore, so it's definitely not easy to go. I used to pick up my pro camera prints but can't do that anymore. It's not really good reason to go here anymore.
I really appreciate the attention and friendliness in solving my camera needs. They were great at returning my call and having my item ready for me when I walked in. The sales ppl were very nice and took time to listen and to help me. The Carytown store is sleak looking and fully equipped w everything camera related.
The customer service is great. It's a good location to pick up pro prints.
My recent experience with Richmond Camera was not good at all. I took some old videos to be converted onto DVDs and was so disappointed with their services...or lack thereof! After picking up the completed project, I had 14 DVDs from the video footage I had given to them. It cost me $224.00 which I was happy to pay considering I now had all the footage of my kids' childhoods that I could enjoy. To my dismay, once I sat down to watch the DVDs, I discovered that there was not the much footage on the discs. One of them had 3 minutes and then static; one had 7 seconds!!, etc. They gave me a single disc for each video and charged per disc. What I thought was much more footage to enjoy, turned out to be only about 8 hours in total and I know for sure that there was more footage on each video. But even if something damaged the video and the footage was lost to me, why in the world would they put 3 minutes or 7 seconds on one DVD? Basically, I was charged for the static on the end of each of these videos. When I called to question the camera shop on this, I was asked, "Do you expect our technicians to sit and watch the whole video?". DUH...yes, I do; that's what I am paying you for! And if there is nothing on the tape, add it onto the 3 minute or 7 second!! disc or call me first to explain and find out what I want you to do...they just did not care about my dissatisfaction and disappointment with them! There was no attempt made for a partial refund or at the very least, some acknowledgement from them that their processes are faulty. On a different matter, my experience at 'Memories Videography' was so wonderful! Kudos to them! I took a very special video to them that Richmond Camera insisted could not be copied after two tries. 'Memories' staff took the time to figure out that the tape needed some repair, i.e. putting it into a new case, and I now have that much-valued footage after a much more friendly and professional experience. I will be using 'Memories' from now on!!!
Every time I've entered this store I have felt comfortable, cared for, and welcome. The staff are incredibly friendly and patient, which was a huge help as I'm a novice. They took time to explain things and never made me feel rushed. Speaking with one of the staffers Nicholas I think? helped me feel more at ease in using my camera, in choosing the right film, and in spotting quality when purchasing used devices. The level of expertise makes this a great go-to for professionals, and their helpfulness and patience makes it also a great place for beginners.
Wanted to buy some equipment from here instead of a big retailer because it is important to buy from small and local businesses *especially* during times like this. I overheard someone super friendly helping other guest and when they approached me, I was met with the best customer service ever. Vickie was fantastic and such a true gem. So friendly, considerate and she has such a great spirit. I'll def be back for all my camera needs and accessories. Thank you!
I can't speak about their printing services but DO NOT take your camera there to be sent out for repairs. They don't seem to hire knowledgable front-end staff and based on my experience their system for repairs must be terribly unorganized. Here's my experience: I took my camera there to be sent out to Canon for repairs. They say it will take 3-4 weeks. I call after two weeks to check in and they say it is with Canon but can't tell me anymore. At four weeks, I call in again and now they have a new estimate double what they told me and now say it usually takes 4-6 weeks! I called back in the same day to tell them to go ahead with the repair. I believe I spoke with the same person. A week later, they call me and the camera is back in their shop....unfixed. They never got the message through to Canon to fix it. It took 5 weeks to get absolutely nothing done! The only redeeming aspect of their service was that they didn't try to charge me for the shipping. This was at the Richmond Broad St. location.
The only place in Richmond for all your camera needsdigital and film. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable.
Ordered a camera from the west coast and had it shipped over here. Unfortunately, the filter broke thanks, USPS so in order to be reimbursed from USPS I had to have a statement from a camera shop saying how much it would cost for a filter. Not a big deal, or so I thought... Called here and the manager answered saying that she'd have one of her tech guys email me a simple repair replacement price for the filter. Didn't get anything for a week and so I called again to explain my story. She put me on the phone with her employee, Nathan. After accusing me of fraud for fabricating a story he told me, "I have REAL customers who help my business, I don't have time for people who might be committing fraud--[CLICK]." I couldn't believe the nerve of this guy. I highly suggest to those who are interested in purchasing camera equipment or printing off photos to support another camera shop. The rudeness and demeaning manner in how their employees address others is not deserving of any business.
I went in looking for a battery...was googling the model # on my phone to make sure I asked for the right one...the ones I found were $15, vs the ones in the store that were around $55. When i asked "how come these cost so much less", the employee replied "Oh, well you can buy one of those". Pressing the question I clearly didn't get an answer to, they told me "this is the newer model of battery"...ok...maybe could have told me that before the sly response. Then when I asked if they develop film, they told me to go to a different store. Do you want my money or don't you, richmond camera? It's going to look really awkward when an Amazon drone is giving me better customer service than you guys.
