2/14/24 I went to the ER in hypertensive crisis and doubled over with abdominal pain. After triage I was put into a waiting area to do a urine sample & left there. The two nurses that were in that room didn’t even acknowledge my flank pain or give me a specimen cup. Moments later the triage nurse comes in with another patient hands her a cup and shows her the bathroom. When 1 asked”why I wasn’t given a cup” I was rudely told “you can use the bathroom anytime you want, all you had to do is get this cup” Since when is it safe for patients to touch nurses desks and get their own specimen cup” So with an attitude he hands me the cup and walks away. When the two nurses returned I had to ask them to wheel me into the bathroom. When I was in the bathroom there was blood, feces and urine on the seat. I was so disgusted I would have left if I wasn’t doubled over in pain. They did clean the toilet after I told them. How can a hospital be so dangerous to the public by having bodily waste on a toilet seat in an ER.? While I was waiting for a room there was a woman on 6L of oxygen who yelled “I’m not getting any oxygen”at this point we were alone again she said “I can’t breathe call for help” I yelled “ there’s a woman who can’t breathe I need help “ No one came so I wheeled myself over to try to help. When the nurse came in she said “did you call for help? I pointed her to help this woman. She says in a humorous manner “ oh your tank is empty” This woman who is dependent on oxygen was left alone with an empty tank and no call bell or anyway to alert the nurse. When two nurses returned “I asked how a hospital can leave their patients without any way to alert them for an emergency” I was told “this is just a holding area” and put back out in the waiting room away from her. 6 hours later I’m in my room crying, doubled over with abdominal & chest pain. The ER doctor ordered a Ct scan, no one took my vitals or put me on an EKG, deciding to send me home I had to remind them that I haven’t even had my vitals signs yet. My blood pressure was even higher and my pain was excruciating. I asked the doctor & nurse “how can you send me home like this and I was told “ you don’t have any life threatening symptoms so you need to follow up with your doctor “ I thought being in hypertensive crisis and doubled over with abdominal pain was an emergency and that I was going to be treated & cared for it” I guess the only Emergency in this hospital is on the sign. How can they treat their patients with such disregard and negligence? Worst of all be a public health hazard by having bodily waste & leaving a woman with an empty oxygen tank & no way to call for help. Im reporting this to the health department, the hospital board and even the local news. I strongly WARN!!! anyone who values their safety and their life to avoid this ER like the plaque that it is. I have never given a bad review before but someone needs to protect the public from this atrocity.
Our experience was positive. Everyone treated us with respect. The nurse's treating my fiance were very polite and knowledgeable, every doctor the same. They also helped educate us for future care routine. We must've gotten there at a good time because even the ER wait wasn't very long. He was in the pavilion which is very nice. No complaints other than having to be in the hospital. even the cafe food was good
Unethical - financial games and slight of hand - patients be aware! The hospital called and provided a cost estimate prior to my schedule procedure; the estimate showed my total responsibility as well as the portion covered by insurance. I have a high deductible plan so my portion was not insignificant. At check in, I was pressured to pay the full amount not covered by insurance even though there was no obligation to do so. I ultimately agreed to pay one third of my portion however the staff member completing the check in charged the full amount to my card and called it a "system error" and stated that it couldn't be reversed. The nursers and doctor were great and the procedure went smoothly. While I was dismayed that the hospital charged my credit card without authorization, I decided to let it go as I was happy with the outcome and intended to pay the bill in full. Fast forward several weeks later, I received a second bill bringing the total cost of the procedure to an amount that was 28% higher than the estimate. How could the hospital have been so wrong on a routine procedure? After countless phone calls over two weeks I was finally told that the estimate didn't include the doctor's fees! Amazing, they gave me a price for a procedure that somehow didn't include the cost of the person performing the procedure. No other industry in the USA is able to get away with this type of unethical behavior. One star.
Went here 2 times for visits for a tonsillectomy. The staff were friendly, professional, efficient and well trained. They were experienced and seemed to genuinely care about my wellbeing. I was extremely impressed with all of them from the front desk to the nurses and the staff who escorted me to my car in a wheelchair chair. Never expected to have such a great healthcare experience I got an email and phone call before surgery breaking down the financial cost. There was an error saying I’d have to pay about $100 copay. I called my insurance when I got the email to verify if this was accurate. Then the hospital staff called me and I explained I’d talked to my insurance and they said I had a $0 copay and no deductible. The hospital was understanding and resolved the issue so when I arrived day of surgery I did not pay anything. I legit left the hospital thinking if I ever have to go back to a hospital I hope it’s this one
First off 4.9 stars for the staff. All but one was very polite . Nurse in emergency room was especially emergency, all 3 cardiologist, pharmacy girl, etc all kept me informed what meds where for,how often take, etc The sensors just seem to be to sensitive. Going off when just move a little bit. Rooms are double rooms ,small and dated. But apparently new section of hospital opened July 7th so all be single rooms. I been to Delco, Fitz and now her since 2018. Though Delco closed I'd still choose Ridley if had a choice .
Even when the ER is completely empty, they still take hours to see you, while nurses and doctors lounge around and joke while you wait hours on end to be seen. It’s truly ridiculous. This used to be my hospital of choice whenever I had an emergency, but the lack of care and dirtiness of this place truly makes it one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had
Horrible experience. Here for 8 hours, only for bloodwork and an ultrasound to be done. That is ridiculous. After a hour of waiting for the ultrasound results, and expressing our frustration, they *then *decided to mark the results as urgent, and was told 10 minutes. That 10 minutes turned into another hour. Hour and a half of waiting for the paperwork and scripts so that we leave. Got home to then realize most of the scripts were for the wrong medicines. What a joke. I highly do not recommend going to this hospital at all. If I could give it 0 stars I would.
Doctors are rude. Some of the nurses are nice. ER has been an awful experience everytime. Say there is no beds. When you get back it’s completely empty. They have messed up my urine samples. And it’s dirty. My whole bed was covered in dirt. From going to the bathroom. Small part of the bed pictured below.
Not sure how to rate this place. Most people were great to my husband, he was taken right back in the ER. But one nurse called CYS on our family? He asked how long he’d be there because his kids were in the car, she asked if they were alone, he said no of course notI was there the entire time & on video walking him in the ER and later that night we got a call from CYS. Not sure why she couldn’t have gotten more info before taking that kind of action, but we’re angry & want her to be held accountable for doing that without a single shred of evidence, suspicious behavior, etc. Susie W, we’re coming for you.
It’s really amazing that this is a hospital. It much more resembles a McDonald’s drive-through where no one knows what’s going on and no one cares. Huge delays in patients being seen, no communication, and absolutely no coherent structure for the intake of patients. If I were the hospital administrator, I would be ashamed of the quality of service. It’s also so disappointing that repeated reviews like this one take note of all the one star reviews will do nothing to inform the opinion of Main Line Health about this hospital. If you’re reading this review, do yourself a huge favor and go to Bryn Mawr Hospital or pretty much any other hospital in Delaware County - because it will likely be a much better experience. If I could negative stars, I would.
