This little market tucked away in the Mid City/uptown neighborhood is my favorite place to grab some quick food for the soul. I mean the hot food they make is top notch. Not to mention the meat and seafood counter staff are amazing too. Each time I go there I find some new local food that I end up falling in love with. Don't forget to support our local businesses!
Unfortunately this particular location has sold us moldy hummus in the past, and on this morning, week-old expired Just Egg. According to the Just Egg Website, “If you eat Just Egg after the use-by date or best-by date printed in the bottle there is a high risk of food poisoning. According to the brand, you should not use or eat Just Egg after the date printed on the bottle.” I don’t understand, are they not checking their shelves regularly? Are they not aware of the time sensitive foods on their shelves? I shouldn’t walk into a store wondering whether it’s safe to eat their food. Especially for such a small store, you’d think they’d keep track of rotten or week old expired foods. I’ve worked in food and hospitality my whole life. I just don’t get it, mold on food and an entire week past expectation date. Pure negligence. If i’m paying top dollar on groceries, I expect more than the bare minimum and they haven’t even done that here. Bakers and cooks are great. That’s all.
Omg. The fried fish is amazing. I had never eaten from a grocery bar before and had heard for years that fish was delicious. The staff is so friendly. I have been going back every week since introducing it to my mom.
Prices are significantly higher here than most area groceries, and checkout can be incredibly slow depending on who showed up for work that day. Selection is pretty bare bones so hopefully you are not shopping for anything unusual. Perhaps the weakest section is Produce in that regard. The prepared lunches and self-serve meals tend to be their strong suit. I think lots of chains are moving in that direction due to higher profit margins.
Very cramped, but organized. Lucky they were open on Thanksgiving Day for an item that had been forgotten. Not a good place for those accustomed to wide open spaces.
Overall Awesome Selections for " Overpriced Everything in the Grocery Store" with Fantastic Cocktails to help You recover quickly from the Shocking experience at every checkout register ... Location to the house and hospital in my Lifestyle ...
If I spend $20.00 on my food I don’t want to eat it and it’s cold. My fish was good and cold and rubbery and the bread pudding was burnt at the bottom
As many of the previous reviews state, it is pricey. The food stations are really great. I do appreciate their produce section for the sake of beets, although rather small.
Good place for lunch and dinner, good and not expensive. Grocery is a little bit more expensive than supermarket. Many 6-pack beer options.
Convenient for certain things, extremely expensive on most. Selections are limited. Decent hot plate bar....really good fried chicken. Workers act like you should be grateful they're there...including management.
