The best park in Wilmington. By far cleanest, lots of trees and well kept grass, tennis courts aren’t too busy, there’s basketball courts, baseball, and dogs are allowed and always seem well behaved. No playground, FYI, just gorgeous nature. The tower isn’t alway open but if you get a chance on summer Sundays it is free and totally worth the view, stunning!!!
Beautiful grounds. Big open well manicured spaces to play catch with your dog. Shared roadway through the park made easy travel for families with strollers, cyclists, skateboarders, etc. Just watch out for the cars... and snakes. Areas were available to reserve. There was a baby shower happening at the base of the tower which was open for a few hours. You can check their website for the next dates coming up. I would visit again.
Love this place. So cool to walk around and a big open dog park too. Lovely area of the city, you don’t even realize where you are. Check website for when you can go up in the tower, that as awesome too!
Love this park. Have always had friends, children or grandchildren on visits over the past 50 years. Always go straight down the side of the "mountain" to Brandywine River side to climb on huge rocks, skip stones on the calm upstream and marvel at the small waterfall and rapids further downstream. Usually go straight up the most difficult terrain when ready to leave or occasionally go the whole length of trail riverside and hike back at park level. Didn't realize there are tours of Rockford Tower during the week since we always have gone on weekends. We'll be coming back a couple times a year as long as we can!!
The park was beautiful. I mean, it IS beautiful to this day even. Triple trouble walking crew has gone on several journeys for which Rockford was the halfway point - like we would walk there, chill for a bit and then walk away from there. I've never seen a dinosaur there. Not once. I'm not sure why I would see such a thing in 2021, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a truthful statement. I got love for Rockford. HEY GUYS! that part up there? That's like 1.5 years old. Dr. GOOGLE overlord info grabber was like "hey, wanna update your review?" So that's what this part is. I walked up there this morning in the coooold sisters and brothers. It's beautiful in the winter frfr. Everything is dead from a foliage standpoint. Dogs. I was like 22° when I got up there around 8 so it was all cute joggers with their red faces and runny noses. Took some pics right quick. Hang out and check 'em out, geez. As you can see it looks like someone was having a party in the restroom. Str8 ruckus. Ahhh to be young. Or maybe they were old, I don't know.
If you have the energy....it's amazing! The rocks are stunning, but provide a adult playground lol. Plenty of places to jump rocks over the river, which is my favorite part. Just an all around amazing place to go have fun and burn some calories !!!! Bring some water....and then some more water lol
Beautiful park. Nice walking/run path. Lovely view if you visit and climb the tower. Great location for gathering for events/fundraising, 5K walks etc.
Beautiful place for jogging, playing tennis. Well maintained park. Enjoyed our family outing.
Beautiful park. Dog friendly. Vast rolling grass hill surrounded by hiking hills studding with boulders and majestic trees on one side and antique mansions on the other, and a huge old tower at the top of the hill. Definitely worth visiting
Lovely park and paths, great dog park. Friendly people. Highest point in the state of Delaware, home of our beloved President Joe Biden!
