From Atlanta visiting friends. A stunning interior. I have always loved bars that are libraries. The books aren’t for reading but the cocktails are for drinking. I asked their head bartender Kristine to make me 3 rounds of off menu, bartender made drinks. As I’ve travelled throughout the world, I’ve usually asked for this at nice cocktail lounges. Some may consider this to be a nightmare consumer but I like putting bartenders to the test. Usual cocktail menus bore me. Kristine met, exceeded and surpassed expectations. The first round was a creative gin and fig based cocktail. The second was what i thought the perfect Colorado take on an old fashion. Bourbon, alpine liqueur, and banana. This started off as an old fashion on the palette and finished as totally unique. The third was an egg white my favorite cocktail that was amazing, unique, and different than anything I’ve had as a person who avoids whiskey sours and encourages different egg white drinks. It’s a hard ingredient to use and this place has the training to be considered one of the best cocktail places in denver. The bathrooms are also disguised behind bookshelves which was clever, hilarious, and clean
One of the few bars I like in Denver. As long as it’s not packed and full. When there is a medium to little crowd this place is the best. Chill, not overly loud. Love all the books everywhere. Just a classier than normal bar than most places in Denver. Never see or have any drama there with alpha dudes starting fights or people being rude. Everyone seems to be nice and happy to strike up a conversation. Good vibes for sure
Amazing bar! The servers know how to make a great cocktail and are very well versed in their craft. Kristi was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and made me the best mezcal old fashioned I've had. I would recommend this bar to everyone and will definitely be returning.
Vibe is better than most. Music could be better. If you watch Emily in Paris, you can get a Kir Royale so 5 stars for that alone. Acceptable 13$ cocktails for the city.
Exactly what you'd expect from a bar, loud, great music. Polite doorman, packed in very tight. Server, although overwhelmed was very fast with drinks and running tab.
This place is fantastic! It has a look and feel all it's own. It's the little touches at this place that make it stand out from the crowd. For example, opening up a giant book case to access the bathrooms or the drink menu with interactive pages. The drinks were spectacular and the service was top-notch. The only perplexing thing about this place was the music. The music was far too loud had to speak very loudly....almost yelling for the vibe the establishment gives off. And the selection of music also didn't match the vibe which felt a little bizarre. But I'd gladly overlook this for such a unique place!!
I had to come to Denver to find a Champaign Cocktail on the menu and it was fantastic. Highly recommended for either a before or after dinner cocktail
This place was mediocre. They had solid music, but the bar tender repeatedly yelled at us when we were being appropriate but adventurous. I would not recommend this place if you’re looking to dance. It’s good for expensive drinks though.
Fun place, great atmosphere, great cocktails.
The layout is surprisingly modern considering the old typewriters on the wall next to the bookshelves, whose booksfaux? look quite real. Excellent alcohol selection, friendly wait staff. Music loud enough to mute conversations more than 6 feet away. Not deafening, but maybe a decibel or two loud. Half the tables/seating useless due to covid overreaction.
