If you care about the person you are looking for a transitional care location for do NOT send them to the Rose of Sharon Transitional care. I received a phone call from the ER doctor at Regions hospital asking me if I knew that my husband was in the hospital. I did not because no one from Rose of Sharon bothered to call and let me know that he was so ill that he had to be taken by ambulance to the emergency room. I wasn't called until the next day asking if I wanted to hold his room. I gave them a resounding NO. The Social worker, Ruth, is completely inept. Do not expect any help with Medicare from her because she does not know what she is doing. In addition to all of this, my husband could wait up to a half hour for help after putting on his call light, to say the food isn't good is an understatement. You will have to guess what kind of meat you are eating and don't send any good clothes because you will probably not be going home with all of them. Please look for any other location for your loved one other than the Rose of Sharon
Rose of Sharon has been my home for almost two months. The people there have become my second family. I felt the love and respect there, and it was very appreciated. Thanks to the therapists who were very patient with me, I left stronger than when I arrived. Lots of fond memories, beginning with Zack, my nurse and friend. Thank you all, Bill Gove
The staff was friendly and helpful in assisting me in visiting my friend who is in residence for rehab therapy. My friend described that the therapy she is getting is very helpful in giving her confidence that she will be home very soon.
We have found much improvement in the cleanliness and general order of Betsy's room. She told us that an aid came in and took the time to put the room right. That one improvement made a positive impact on her.
Rose of Sharon simply should not be operating. Period. Nobody should have to subject their loved one to the conditions there. Very disheartening. Way too many patients and way too few staff. They are woefully understaffed and while there are some good care givers, they simply cannot keep up and are overshadowed by others who just don't seem to care. I can only assume their attitudes are due to being completely overwhelmed. The facility itself also appears to have not been updated for MANY years, and has equipment and furnishings that are falling apart and unsafe. My father went there for transitional care after a fall and basically laid in bed for 4 days without even being evaluated for physical therapy. Thankfully we were able to transfer him to another facility fairly quickly. The experience scarred him. :-
I have been here 22 days. The staff is very friendly and try to make you as comfortable as they can. I have a private room with a window facing the courtyard. It is very nice. The Physical Therapy and the Occupational Therapy is really good. They work you to strengthen your body. They give you encouragement and goals are set. The meals are good too. My favorite was the chicken tacos. I recommend The Rose of Sharon a Villa Center.
This is by far the WORST facility to consider for anyone. It's inhumane the level of neglect & abusive bedside manner every employee displays here. The turnover is horrible and they evade communication with resident's families. They are also thieves and will milk every penny out of you and/or your loved one. They do not provide any financial invoices, receipts, etc. All clothing, shoes, personal care items disappear. This place should not be open. They are incompetent and are going to seriously hurt someone with the lack of care they exhibit. The state needs to get involved and shut them down. Employees hoover over visitors and show total disregard for resident privacy. They all behave as if they own the residents and as if the resident's aren't human. SHUT ROSE OF SHARON DOWN!!!!!!! The owner is money hungry and the staff employed such as the nurse manager, director, social worker, etc WILL NOT speak to resident families, guardians, etc. They will not return any form of communication. The owner responding is for performative & only for show.
* WARNING* ROSE OF SHARON NURSING HOME A Villa Center Located at 1000 Lovell Ave in Roseville, Mn. One block North of Highway 36, One block East of Lexington Ave. 2.5 Miles East of Rosedale Shopping Center via County Rd.B2 I grew up in Roseville. I can remember Rose of Sharon well, my best friends mom worked there when I was six. I felt comfortable when Unity Hospital was sending my mom there for some rehab after a fall. My mom has survived 5 heart attacks, lung cancer, breast cancer unrelated, emphysema, Diverticulitis, Diabetes, and is now in the end stages of COPD She has survived all of this by knowing her body, being vigilant about her diet, meds and any signs that something may be askew. At 83 years old she is sharp, and physically able to care for herself. She left Unity in good health. The doctor left instructions for Rose of Sharon to : 1. give physical therapy 2. It was also stressed that it was very important, she walk several times a day. Otherwise there will be complications with her heart. 3. because of her diabetes, she requires several small meals and snacks to control her sugars 4. Meds need to be taken on a regimented schedule. She saw physical therapy 1 time for ten minutes and reports walking in a circle. The first day her breakfast was inedible. They also were not giving a diabetic menu or the amount necessary to keep her levels in check. She got her meds sporatically She was now using a chair to walk herself so she could use the restroom When she complained about these issues she was told it was a Holiday. On the fifth day Rose of Sharon called my sister informing her mom had a temp of 105 she was a dnr so they were calling an ambulance and to go to Unity When we got there her body had retained so much water from not walking her skin was stretched tight, she had double pneumonia and an infection at the sight of her radiation treatment, We were simply waiting for her to pass. When she left Unity she was healthy. While my mom was lying in the hospital Rose of Sharon called my sister inquiring about my mom's belongings. Not even 48 hours had passed. She informed them she wouldn't be returning and someone would be there with in the hour. When she got there, they had packed, and not carefully, her things and put them in the lobby by the door. I apologize for the length of this review. I did not write this in anger. There simply isn't room for anger in this situation. The level of neglect she received in this short span of time sickens me, scares me, mostly though it worries me because I know it isn't an isolated incident. I should mention several rounds of antibiotics shes alert, the swelling is subsiding, her oxygen level is good. With a little time and a lot of prayer she will be walking.
My grandmother was at this center for therapy post-surgery and was able to recover and return home. The staff and management were so kind and compassionate. They always listened to her needs and made sure she was comfortable. My grandmother and family were blown away by the care at this facility.
This nursing home does not return calls, does not communicate with it's patients or their family members, and does not respond in reasonable time spans when call lights are pressed. There is a fear of retaliation by the staff if the residents complain. For $2000 a week, you would think that there would be some level of expectation of care. 3 weeks and not offered a bath once!
