One of the Cooler and more notable metro stations in the area with that enormous escalator, even if said escalator personally makes me feel a little uneasy going down. But it’s kinda neat in a way. Definitely one of the most Thrilling escalators I’ve been on… which is a sentence that I never thought I’d say. Also the station itself is also a very convenient junction point for The Orange, Silver and Blue lines, making it possible to go to Tyson’s Corner and Crystal City on the same day. But either way it’s definitely worth checking out for the longest escalator in Arlington.
Definitely a clean and efficient train system compared to nyc
Rosslyn is one of the deeper metro stations in the system. The station itself has a long set of escalators. Somewhat cramped at ground level, you'll find a series of workaday businesses to satisfy your needs. Lotsa foot traffic here as this is the closest metro to Georgetown University and the western end of M Street. Still alittle bit of a hike.
You can start your DC tour from here. The escator itself is a ride and the DC view building is right opposite to station. Decent walk to Georgetown
The escalator into the station is quite long but once you get downstairs, the station is very simply designed: trains into DC on the top platform and out of DC on the bottom.
The first American station I go to! Big difference to Japanese ones!!
Well serviced metro station.
We came to the area for the 4th of July and had no idea how to use the Metro. We asked the Rosslyn station manager what we needed to do, and she actually closed her booth and came out and walked us through the process of getting a Metro card, how to add money to the card, how to scan through the access terminals and which station we wanted to exit at to begin our sightseeing. The platforms were spotless and the trains were clean. And once we understood how the system operates, it was simple to get to any point in DC we wanted to go to. All in all, our experience at the Rosslyn Metro station and the Metro in general was outstanding!
How can both the silver and orange be simultaneously severely delayed with no shuttle option? I've lived in the DMV my whole life, and the metro has routinely failed its one job of getting people from point A to point B efficiently. I've been in developing countries with better transit. The DC metro is such an embarrassment.
I think this may be one of the longer escalators for the metro system. Pretty cool and overall a good spot to catch the metro.
