We are a caring classroom community experiencing and exploring the world together in the Reggio way.
Rowanberry school is a home based, mixed age kindergarten for children ages 3-6. We strive to preserve the wonder and magic of childhood, and to nurture the young child's emerging sense of self. Our core influences come from the progressive early childhood programs of Reggio Emilia, Italy, and the Waldorf kindergarten, (children's garden). The Reggio approach supports the child's intellectual and creative development through in-depth interdisciplinary studies, or inquiries. Waldorf education supports the child with a holding that carries him through his day rhythmically, with story, song and movement. At Rowanberry, we combine these two rich traditions in a way that provides a graceful and stimulating first school experience for the young child.
PLAY and ART are central to our daily life. Other activities include: caring for our chickens and pet bunny, organic gardening, baking, worm composting, singing, and storytelling in all its forms.
Angela Molloy Murphy is the director of Rowanberry School, and has been an Early Childhood Educator since 1989. She holds a Bachelors degree in Philosophy, and a Masters degree in Education, with a specialization in Early Childhood.
