This gem is hidden down near the lakefront and is truly a locals' joint. Come for the amazing accents, stay for the food! The vibe is lakeside diner, and the food is immaculate. They're only open 7am-3pm, and the parking options are slim at busy times, and they do get slammed on Saturdays and Sundays. They have a beautiful shaded outside seating area with fans for the heat of summer. Whether you choose breakfast or lunch is irrelevant because you can not go wrong. Definitely go for the sage grit cakes for brunch. So good! I'm a real sucker for their spaghetti and meatball. The meatball is the size of a softball! Still tender and perfectly spiced, tho. Anything fried here will be out of sight. They are masters of fried food here. This is a great place for families with young kids or picky eaters, too. Everyone can find something to eat here. Impress your friends who never go anywhere but the French Quarter or Uptown and bring them here. That's what I do. Oh! Do not leave without ordering dessert! My fave is the chocolate peanut butter pie, but go nuts! They are all impeccable! The prompt, friendly, and efficient servers are awesome and represent the superior customer service you will get in NOLA. You can tell by the amount of regulars. Just a top notch slice of the New Orleans food world outside of the Quarter. Go eat with the locals!
So me and my son was visiting New Orleans and we are from West Virginia... And we crossed the bridge looking for some shrimp gumbo and we happened to run across this place...and Id have to say that I absolutely loved the food here it was so fresh and delicious.....We both ordered the seafood platter and of course a cup of shrimp and sausage gumbo which was some of the best I've ever tasted...For dessert we ordered pecan pie with a side of vanilla ice cream...everything we had was delicious...the service was quick and the food was at a reasonable price...Just a little over $50 for two of us to have a delicious and full hearty meal...and the staff was very courteous and friendly. We want to extend a special thanks to the owner whose name is Claire...She even invited us to go outside and take photographs by the by the old sign that used to hang by the restaurant...So thank you very much Claire..it was a pleasure to meet you...your food is delicious and your restaurant rocks...If we're ever back down your way we will come back and visit..and eat some more of that food If anyone is visiting the area make sure you visit Claire and Russell's Marina grill...You will not be disappointed.

Wow!! What a superb diner breakfast. The grit cakes were an amazing twist on a savory. And the sweet potato biegnets were new to me and delicious. Perfect sweet and cinnamon. The biscuits and gravy was magic. The eggs scrambled soft were the best I’ve ever had. Thanks for everything!Food: 5/5
Went here for my son's birthday brunch. We drove all the way from Mobile and it was worth it! It was packed when we pulled in so I was a little worried there would be a long wait but we were seated immediately. Our server was great and so was the food. The atmosphere was lively and energetic. I will definitely be back soon. The fried green tomatoes were excellent Next time you are in New Orleans stopping here should be on your to do list

Located in the heart of Lakeview, Russell’s Marina Diner stands as a cherished beacon of New Orleans’ rich culinary tradition. Since its inception in 1985, this diner has carved out a niche for itself as the go-to destination for exceptional breakfasts, weaving itself into the fabric of the city’s dining scene. With a menu that spans the gamut from indulgent fried chicken and waffles to a diverse array of egg specialties, Russell’s caters to a broad spectrum of tastes. Not forgetting the health-conscious, the diner also offers lighter fare such as eggwhite omelets and sweet potato pancakes, ensuring that every patron leaves satisfied. The dining experience is further enhanced by the option to enjoy your meal either inside the diner’s cozy interior, at the counter where the local vibe thrives, in their inviting dining room, or outside on the pet-friendly patio, making it perfect for every occasion. During my visit, I decided to try the legendary Egg Saints #33—a daring concoction that perfectly embodies New Orleans’ flair for culinary innovation. This dish features a grilled biscuit topped with alligator sausage, grilled tomatoes, poached eggs, and smothered in homemade country gravy. Each component of the dish harmonizes to create a breakfast experience that is both unique and profoundly satisfying. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with the diner’s unmistakable local charm, enhanced by the friendly service that made me feel right at home. The ambiance, a blend of the cozy and the communal, set the perfect stage for what was to be an unforgettable meal. The Premier League playing softly in the background added a touch of camaraderie, reminiscent of a neighborhood café where everyone is welcome. The highlight of my visit was, without a doubt, the food. The Egg Saints #33 was a revelation, transforming the classic eggs Benedict into a dish that captivated my palate and left me pondering the culinary prowess behind it. Every bite was a testament to Russell’s commitment to quality and innovation, making it clear why this diner holds a special place in the hearts of New Orleans’ residents and visitors alike. In a city lauded for its vibrant food scene, claiming the title of "best breakfast" is no small feat. Yet, as I left Russell’s Marina Diner, I was already yearning to return and dive deeper into their menu. This hidden gem is an absolute must-visit for anyone looking to experience the soul of New Orleans through its food, served with a side of unmatched hospitality.
I'm a huge fan of the $uicideBoy$, and so I went to see an aspect of what would have shaped Ruby's life experience, and I had the absolute best meal. I got The Ruby Special, and it was just perfect. Best burger I've had in New Orleans. It's a simple meal, but it shines in quality. My wife got the chicken and waffles and everything about our meal, the atmosphere, the service, was great. Just wish I could have met Ruby's Dad. Great place, and I'll definitely be back when I'm in New Orleans. Can't wait to try the chicken fried steak. Getting the, "I got the Ruby Special", was a nice surprise as well!
