"Further true to tradition, the Russia House features an impressive selection of caviars and the largest collection of house-infused and worldly vodka in Washington"

"Russia House Restaurant opened in July of 1992 by Ali and Homerya Darugar, a family owned resturant, together they created an atmosphere of aristocratic dining with a classic cuisine and a warm feeling that you are dining at your grandmother's table. Homeyra moved from Russia with her grandparents to Switzerland, where she learned to cook in her grandmother's kitchen. She brought her great culinary talents here to the United States and created the exquisite menu and served as the head chef."

We had an enjoyable, peaceful experience. The restaurant was a comfortable temperature. The decor was unique because of its Russian theme. The menu was different from what was online, apparently due to shortages created by COVID. I believe they were somewhat short staffed, assuming due to COVID. We had a difficult time getting the waitstaffs attention when we needed something, but they were apologetic. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening.
was alright. the food was nothing mind blowing. i felt like this place had more french cuisine foods than russian considering it is called Russia House. the salad and soup were standard. the pasta was kind of bland with the cream sauce. luckily it was not too rich but it was just okay. the beef stroganoff was much better. the beef was tender and the overall dish was way better than the pasta. the options for dessert were limited and yet it still wanst good. the pistachio cheesecake was lacking pistachio flavor and it was topped with green cool whip. the nepoleon was definitely old. the pastry was not flaky or was it crisp. at the the creme on that was good. it was a very comforting place but the food was just alright.
This is just a wonderful restaurant. The owners greeted us warmly and took us to our table where they asked for our drink order. This was followed by HOT bread with butter. Service is very attentive. The food was delicious and HOT. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of food from a "warmer". How many fish tacos, salads with feta cheese and candied pecans, hamburgers, chicken breasts etc. can you eat? If you want something delicious and different than the "average" fare, this is a great restaurant. They've been here for many years and deserve continued patronage. You won't regret it. The owner and their wife are so extremely kind! I had such a great experience dining here and really enjoyed the food. I definitely recommend the pâté. I had looked at the menu online before going and was a little sad to see the menu was not the same as online really wanted to try the escargot, but I assume during the pandemic things have been modified. Definitely a nice place for a date night.
This place is a GEM! You don't know what you're missing! Definitely a Must-Go! Finally, a place that still offers top-notch service, a classy atmosphere without being stuffy, and immense attention to detail. The staff treated us like we were honored guests, saying "sir" and "miss" and treating us with respect and good manners. The man delivered my spoon to me on a folded napkin atop a plate instead of just handing it to me bare-handed, and he placed our bread onto our plates with tongs from a napkin-lined basket. The decor is clean and warm. Shaded oil lamps at each table, crystal chandeliers, classical music playing through the speakers, attractive china plates, matching silverware, and flower boxes bursting with blooms. Instead of paper towels, the bathrooms have individual white washcloths to use for drying hands. Nice touch! We ate every scrap and morsel of food. The beef stroganoff and beef pelmeni had delicious flavors, and the dishes were very filling. We ordered a couple drinks, but there wasn't much punch to the cocktails-needs more alcohol for the cost. That's the only downside to the experience. Other than that, we are very pleased and definitely want to go back. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
We came and the owner served us. We asked her what would be good for appetiser, but she couldn’t even reply, and then she finally told us something and brought 5 over salted shrimps with pepper crumbs on it and that costs 17$? For sure we didn’t want to eat such dish and waited for the main course. They brought us good dish, which we tried just one fork, but she told if you don’t like the food go away from here. She even told that we are nasty for no reason. That’s the way owner treats their clients. As a Russian, I would say that’s there is nothing Russian in their menu. Don’t go there. Для всех русских - это полная опа.
The only negative is that the $15 cocktail I ordered had very little alcohol in it. It tasted good, but for that price, I expect a more noticeable effect. The food and service are exceptionally good, and I'd like to return for another dinner.
Amazing dinner, hospitality and service at the Russia House last night. One of the best meals I’ve experienced in the DC area. The shrimp brochette and beef pelmini were excellent - so were our desserts and the Russian coffee decadent!. Highly recommend this hidden gem in downtown Herndon, VA!
Birthday dinner night for the hubby. This is kind of a pricey spot but worth the money. We started with a nice caviar and escargot. I am not a lover of escargot but the rest of the fam loved it. The snaps were served in mushroom caps and flavored with garlic, herbs, and butter. The caviar was served with mini pancakes called blini, toast points, sour cream, purple onion, and finely shredded hard boiled egg. We got the lumpfish caviar and it was delicious. We had two bottles of red wine throughout our meal. Between apps and dinner, we ordered some of the house infused vodkas. The butterscotch vodka was delicious. I highly recommend it. We also got the pomegranate vodka which was delicious and jammy. We had one other that I cannot recall the name of. All of their vodkas were dangerously easy to drink and I would go back just for those. Our entrees did not disappoint. I ordered beef stroganoff and we all shared tastes of our dishes. Everything was amazing. We capped dinner with desert. Cream puffs, chocolate mousse pie and apple strudel which my family shares around the table while finishing off our wine and chatting. Service was wonderful too. I hope this restaurant is able to make it through the pandemic because it is truly a little gem.
Old world decor and service accentuate the Russian cuisine with a French influence. You can't find a kinder pair of hosts than the couple running this place. If you're looking for a fine meal with family, friends, or a partner, this place will handle it all with aplomb.Food: 5/5
