I was craving Turkish food today and my go-to spot went out of business so I decided to try Sahara. I enjoyed the decor I felt like I was in Europe. They had nice lunch specials but I ended up ordering from the regular menu. The Bee Sting smoothie was very tasty I think it was banana, milk, lavender, honey, walnut, strawberry and peach. The flavors complimented each other beautifully and nothing was overwhelming. The bread was tasty. Not sure what other people were complaining about because it’s the exact same type of bread I’ve had in other Turkish restaurants and the baba ganoush was delicious. The skirt steak was absolutely phenomenal. It was served with the yummiest rice and the standard tomato and pepper. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. Not too hard or soft. Perfect amount of seasoning and oil. I ate like it was my last day on earth and I’m still full. They knew it was my birthday and brought me a rice pudding with a candle which I thought was so nice. The staff was very friendly. I can’t wait to bring my husband here. Thank you for a wonderful meal and experience
One of the best Turkish cuisines we’ve ever tasted in New York. Very friendly staff, cozy and warm vibes. The food was beyond filling, and simply mouth watering. Very generous portions! Prices were standard. Definitely recommend if you are looking for Turkish food in Manhattan.Recommended dishesSultan Beyti, Iskender Kebab, Fried Calamari, Lamb Saute, Baklava
If I could give six stars I most definitely would. Ender and Delai were really a very special part of our dining experience and not just because of them, but objectively I’d like to go ahead and say that this is one of the best restaurants in the whole island. Also, not a tourist trap in case you’re looking for a good place where everyone should go to for a nice occasion. The okra plate is really really nice and the baba ganoush was really delicious. Some of the best bread I’ve had in other spots, and with Turkish food, good bread is a must. Turkish coffee on point as well as the overall vibe. Thanks so so much for having us over, we’ll make sure we come again and so should anyone reading this review. Just want to say, this is my real opinion and I’m not affiliated to this joint in any kind of way and this review is 100% honest out of my personal experience.
The waitress was really nice. The Small Mixed Cold Appetizer plate was delicious. But my shrimp kebab was tasteless.
Ordered for pick up, when I got there the food was ready in less than 5min. Very quick and ontime as scheduled. Saw the interior and it was so pretty, will definitely stop by one day to have dine in. Food tasted good when I got home, but would probably taste better when it's dining in.Food: 4/5
Food, service, value for your $ are excellent. Portion size very good. Cuisine variety fit the needs of our party which included meat eaters and vegans. Turkish tastes/flavors an unexpected treat. The only menu choice we were disappointed with was the tarama salata, an appetizer. It was pleasingly light in texture but not flavorful. Too much mayo, not enough ‘caviar’ taste?
I really wanted to give more stars to this place, because staff is really friendly and atmosphere is nice but I ordered doner to have a quick lunch and couldn’t really like it. It came with broccoli and rice. I could eat half of the plate because the meat was really heavy to me and couldn’t like broccoli as a side dish with doner. I may return to try other foods on the menu and update my review based on the other options but so far wouldn’t be able to go more than 3 stars.
I've had the best lamb shank here. Everything is on point Food: 5/5
beautiful interior, nice music, amazing food. the appetizers and the bread with olive oil are so good. the meat dishes too. nice staffFood: 5/5
interesting appetizers with plenty of vegetarian choices. the dry fig salad came with so many walnuts that it turned into a quite heavy meal, not exactly a salad. another place that cannot follow simple instructions, like leaving out plastic forks when the order clearly specified so.
