My family had an absolutely amazing time this year! My husband and I had been a few years back and were stoked getting to make it this year! Definitely didn't disappoint years later! They even have a kids section which was awesome for our daughter! And even if you aren't a need and into comics or anime it is an awesome place just to people watch and see the amazing costumes people make! Everyone there was in great spirits and super nice. I don't think we ran into one grumpy or rude person. Which is saying a lot because there was so many people there!
I have loved FanX for a long time but they need a few changes to keep up, just some general organization and communication issues. Announcements and schedule releases on the website were very delayed. I'd love to see more diversity in the items being sold by vendors--more niches filled! There was a lot of great stuff but really only for mainstream fandoms. This year also didn't have as many high-profile guests. But the attendees are always impressive and went all out! Lines for food were not bad, though seating was limited. However, I brought my own food so I could spend more money on other stuff. I highly recommend Will Bills soda if they come back next year! A true highlight of the weekend. Shopping, panels, and photo ops are the bulk of what's offered, but some more interactive features would be cool. Maybe themed lounge areas, more table top games or tournaments, photo backdrops, decorations/installations, etc. And more signage or paper programs to help with navigation and promoting panels or activities people don't know about! The website was so overloaded, I couldn't look up the schedule. The Salt Palace is in real need of some updates broken elevators and escalators, ripped carpeting, but this isn't a review of the venue. Public transportation to this venue is great though.
We love going to comic con fanx so much! I've been going for years and it just gets better every year! My husband and I love the vendor floor, all the different panels, and activities available. They even have a kid area that's full of fun things. Edit/update: The only suggestion I have is to PLEASE PLEASE put Brandon Sanderson in the Grand ballroom for his panel. There were so many people that had to be turned away and even though they had been waiting for a long time and we were in one of the largest rooms. He is a huge celebrity, especially in Utah and people would like to be there.
Next year 2024 will be their 10th anniversary. I recommend to go. If you're interested in booths, to purchase art, books, etc. I recommend to attend Thursday, before those that attend the con for photo ops, signatures and cosplay attend. It's a great convention for all sorts of fans. They also cater to families with kids. There's a kid con corner where they have activities for the little ones. Bring your own food. The convention doesn't offer great choices and it's overpriced. You can exit the Con and go across the street to the food court at the mall, or stop at one of the various food trucks.
This event can be really fun! You get to see a lot of creative costumes and talented individuals. I have always gotten the multi-day passes for my family and I, but have found my favorite day is Saturday which closes with a couple hour Cosplay show where you get to see the best of the best costumes from novice to expert, including groups. Unfortunately, the vendor floor is often too crowded to really enjoy and many participants fail to notice they are cutting off and running into those of us who are paying attention. It's a must to experience at least once in your life, whether you dress up or not.
I mean, what isn't there to love? The environment is fantastic and the volunteers do everything possible to keep everyone safe and comfortable. The space is perfect, and everything is well organized. The events and panelists are exactly who people want to see as well. I always wish they had more anime panels, and I'd recommend going to every one of Aaron Yeager's panels. Overall it's a fantastic time.
It was fun. It's a big place and there were a lot of new vendors but also a lot of the ones that come every time. I didn't get any photo ops and the pricing of stuff ranges to a little expensive to really expensive, depending on what you are buying. They were also really strict about mask wearing
One of the best con experience I ever had. One of the biggest if not the biggest con I ever attended. Huge venue lots of things to see and more organized than other cons. I been to anime expo and other conventions and this was definitely the best.
Such a fun thing to go and experience! Highly recommend! So many fun panels to sit in on and cool art and trickets to buy! The displays are also incredible!
Absolutely amazing! Pop Culture and Media expo dream come true! Really packed, but it was worth putting up with the crowds!
