The Aviation Maintenance Technician program at Salt Lake Community College is one of 150 FAA approved schools in the US, providing students with the extensive knowledge they need in order to succeed in aviation maintenance.
Students are exposed to a variety of theoretical and practical courses including: metal work, composites, welding, hydraulics, electronics, painting, and engine overhaul (turbine and reciprocating engines).Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) send aircraft into the air and, more importantly, bring them back down safely! AMTs have the important responsibility of servicing, repairing and overhauling aircraft components and systems, including: airframes, engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and avionics equipment.
As the aviation industry expands, so does the demand for AMTs. As much of the current workforce is nearing retirement, more AMTs will be needed to take their place. AMTs have enjoyed higher than average wages and excellent benefits and employment opportunities are expected to continue to grow.
